Malkin again showed why he’s a top 2 playoff performer of his generation. He is so clutch in the playoffs.

But the Crosby line generated the most chances all night.

Nashville even getting their goalies to pinch, gotta create an offensive spark somehow; just gotta make sure to backcheck hard

Wow Rangers got only 1 PP last night in 5+ periods

They honestly didn't do much to deserve any calls. It was basically Shesterkin and Kreider vs the Pens and even Kreider was on and off.

They shot pucks from the outside, they gave practice shots to a cold goalie to get him into the game.

It's great that Malkin scored an epic game winning goal... but he was pretty invisible otherwise. He's a shadow of what he used to be.

He also created the game tying goal with a nice primary assist, and threw some good hits.

Malkin is no longer at his Art Ross winning peak, but is still a first line caliber C who scores above a point per game in the regular season and playoffs.

He still has good hockey IQ, and that helped with those points last night... and yet, 6 Giveaways, 38% on faceoffs, and looks lost most of the time, can't keep up with the play. Almost half of his regular season points came on the PP... which is great.. but really, he isn't anywhere close to his peak, and I wouldn't call him first line caliber either.

I never understood the hype around them, they’re an awful 5v5 team that leans on elite goaltending and special teams.
Better teams will cave them in and they’ll break in a long series.

That bottom end of the west is not playoff calibre. Expect those top seeds to be home and cooled early on

Looks lost? I think we watched a different game. Sure, he was a bit gassed and that led to some giveaways, but it was a triple-OT playoff game, many guys looked worse for the wear.

The faceoffs are not a new development, Malkin has only had one regular season where he was above 50% on the draw. They are a tiny part of the game, all things considered.

I already mentioned he is not at his peak, but since you claimed the bolded I’m going to have to ask you to name 32 Centers better than Malkin this year.

It's absolutely insane how so many front offices will take a guy who haven't had a good coaching season in literally years and think "this is the guy"....

It was 16 years ago he won the Stanly Cup. The game has changed so much

I thought this was a solid article. Sportsnet finally doing an article worth reading...

Kadri is an absolute stud. Nothing but love from this leaf fan. Hope to see him and the avs in the finals!

Loved the Kadri piece, I will never hold those suspensions against him because Parros has made it clear that he'll never give us the benefit of the doubt anyways. It's clear Naz still loves Toronto very much. I think he might come back one day to close out his career
