Not are what makes me laugh more about the Habs:

- the Petry contract
- the Gallagher contract
- the Armia contract
- the Hoffman contract
- the Savard contract

All of them are in year 1, and they all look like busts right now

Pretty soon they'll be asking their coaches St. Louis and Lecavalier if they wouldn't mind taking a shift or two.

HFOil is in full excuses mode after the besting they got behind the wood shed by the Wild.

Mainly they were tired.

I've been saying for a while that the Minnesota Wild are a good example of what the Oilers should be building towards. They have a superstar now and some youth coming up, but are a tenacious scrappy pack mentality team top to bottom that will outskate and outhit you. Whenever the Oilers talk about not having the support for guys like McDrai, I just shake my head at the idea that they think they need 5-6 superstars to make it work. It's like they're trying to build the LA Lakers on the ice and have no idea how to empower the rest of their team to be a functional team.

26-10 in the 2nd. I'm watching this game, and the Avs are definitely sleepwalking right now.

I don't mind seeing an Avs face plant but would prefer they get their act together to take points away from the Brooons.

It's funny - Montreal literally has the highest payroll in the league while icing the worst team. That's almost impressive. And most of that money is locked in longterm.

Last 2yrs stats:

Price (34, $10.5x6yrs): 25gms, .901sv%
Petry (34, $6.25x4yrs): 22:42, 13gl/44pt pace
Hoffman (32, $4.5x3yrs): 16:00, 24gl/49pt pace
Drouin (26, $5.5x2yrs): 16:36, 9gl/46pt pace
Dvorak (25, $4.45x4yrs): 18:09, 22gl/43pt pace
Gallagher (29, $6.5x6yrs): 15:05, 22gl/40pt pace
Anderson (27, $5.5x6yrs): 16:40, 24gl/38pt pace
Byron (32, $3.4x2yrs): 12:57, 9gl/28pt pace
Armia (28, $3.4x4yrs): 14:11, 10gl/22pt pace
Edmundson (28, $3.5x3yrs): 20:03, 5gl/19pt pace
Savard (31, $3.4x4yrs): 20:14, 2gl/13pt pace

$57m in capspace longterm and the only thing resembling top line impact players are a 34yr old dman that has never succeeded against top competition and a 34yr old goalie that hasn't played a game this year.

They also seem to have a contract with the devil, whereby they got their dream run to the finals in exchange for complete damnation this year.

Problem for the Wild will be dead cap hits of $13, 15 and 15 million from 22-23 to 24-25. They'll have to unload Zuccarello and a few other vets this summer.

Yeah I have no idea what they're going to do, but I think the way they built is the way Edmonton and Buffalo should be going about things, cause building a healthy program is more important than placating individual stars with the insinuation that the rest of the team isn't worthy.
