The Leafs are in 4th, the Panthers are far and away #1. They are on pace to shatter the most goals scored by a team in the 2000s, beating the 18-19 Lightning by 20.

No doubt their offensive depth large contributor to that, and their run and gun system helps, but with that many goals for that’s a lot of points to go around.

Their entire identity is sacrificing D for offence so it's heavily inflated. I would love to face them in the playoffs.

Crosby ties it up (2-2) vs the Canes with a good old-fashioned slapper near the end of the 2nd. Or clapper if you prefer.

And, believe it or not, the Habs lead the Isles 1-0.

7-2 embarrassment for the Oilers. They are so damn lucky to be in the Pacific. Their garbage team has no business being anywhere near a playoff spot.

Oilers will trade Kane at the TDL for picks.

He would be a great pickup for any team but I think he is a good fit in Edmonton and I doubt they unload him.

Mind you, I think he is still in wonderment anyone took a chance on him after San Jose so maybe once the honeymoon is over he might show his true colours.

Kane says he wanted to go to a contender but really it's clear he wanted to be in the best position to produce and earn himself another contract next year. I mean McDavid and Drai offer that chance really. I actually think he's smart enough that he will keep a low profile for that time.

Not are what makes me laugh more about the Habs:

- the Petry contract
- the Gallagher contract
- the Armia contract
- the Hoffman contract
- the Savard contract

All of them are in year 1, and they all look like busts right now

It's a team that's going to have to pray their new front office can dig them out of an exceedingly large hole that their last GM dug.

An absolutely terrible situation to be in

The Anderson contract is more "manageable" at $5.5M, but not sure I'd want to take that on either.

Wow. I didn't realize just how bad those contracts were. I also didn't realize Petry and Gallagher were on new contracts.

At least Armia and Savard could probably be moved. The other three seem like anchors.

Yup, all while paying Price 10.5 till 25-26 who, great playoffs aside, hasnt been worth 3 million the last couple of years overall.

I think their downfall started when they fired Julien last year just because they went on a brief skid due to bad goaltending of all things and they just kept on making more errors and once Price went god mode in the playoffs, they made the ultimate error in thinking they actually had a decent team with a great coach that could survive the loss of key guys like Danault and Weber.

Just another example of how playoff progression can destroy a team as it gives an illusion of "progress" when it usually involves a burst of good goaltending. Vancouver is another great example of this and the Isles (who just lost to the Habs last night!) are great example of good coaching and goaltending covering up poor management finally coming home to roost. I don't care if the Isles made it to two semis in a row or the Habs made the finals. They both won as much as the Leafs did in that they lost the cup....and they don't even get a shot at it this year.

Montreal on a 2 game heater to get to 10 wins.

All for a $93 million salary cap hit.
