Ugly loss for the Isles.

They'll probably be in for a busy offseason if they opt to blow it up

Doubt they'll blow it up .. Bet they make some moves like the Toews trade to move cap space and push ahead to compete next year. Especially with Lou.

Just a bad, sideways year. Despite their roster concerns I wouldn't be shocked to see them back in the playoffs next year. But I think their contention years are done with that group.

That Palmieri re-signing is looking horrific right now .. 1 goal, 7 points in 29 games.

I'd be trying to pry Wahlstrom or Bellows out of there

Lou is leaving his successor the very same type of mess he did to the Leafs. Bad contracts with limited options.

Its funny how islanders are almost following the same path as what happened with tavares...great center but surrounding is questionable. although barzal hasn't exactly been the bes either so...

You have to be in a pretty unique spot with a high value player on LTIR, not really something you can plan for
JT doesn't look right, probably injured that could work ;)

Isles record this decade: 59-50-20 in the covid era.
The only man to win GM of the year this decade: Lou

A combination of how awful the old boys club is mixed in with the overrating of playoff runs and the underrating of just how far good goaltending and coaching will take a team. Even now, the Isles are still in the top ten for save% but even that is falling as the keepers are worn out by the team in front of them getting outplayed.

I'm not sure there are many teams in the NHL who would trade places with the Isles roster.

They have a bottom 5 prospect pool in the league too. There is not much help on the way.

116 point season? Nice, that's an incredible year for us. And we're rewarded with 3rd in the Atlantic and a matchup against the back to back champs...

Yup 4th overall and 4 points from the President's trophy gets to face the two-time champs without home ice!

Is what it is but I'm stoked to see playoffs between them. An actually an entertaining series for the first time in 3 years.

It sucks mostly in the... bigger risk of losing in the first round AGAIN thing. But, if you are going to win the cup, you have to beat big teams somewhere along the way. If you can't, you aren't going to win the Cup anyway.

TB-TOR would be a classic with all the speed and skill on the ice, our games are always entertaining. Hopefully Soup returns to elite form if we matchup against them, Vasi is going to be tough as hell to beat

tbh, any of the possible atlantic matchups are great for a neutral fan (TB-FLA,TB-TOR,FLA-TOR). You get final four quality hockey in the first round. It sucks that one of these teams are going home early

I just wish we would have home ice against the big teams. I know we've technically had it the past couple years but with fans it's a totally different experience. But here we are with a projected 116 points and starting on the road lol

People gave them a pass because of covid and road games but after our own team had to deal with covid and post poned games, that pass is gone. Islanders simply not a good team. I'm opposite of you. I will be shocked to see them in the playoffs next year.

I’m excited to see what eichel does in his return. I’m guessing he’s played a bit more sheltered. Probably plays 14-16 minutes but still, it’s been a while since I’ve seen him terrorize the leafs

Colorado vs. Vegas should be a good game already... Eichel makes it a must watch.

I just don't see enough talent and their hard working old guys look broken down and imo not a likely bet to recover as they get older.

That said I doubt they blow it up either. They'll want to try and be competitive again, especially if Lou is still GM

The Leafs would get bullied if they play either of these teams in the playoffs. Way too physical. Not saying they don't have a chance, but they cannot afford to get away from their game. Expecting the same thing tonight from the Avs-Knights. 2 heavyweight battles
