Imagine convincing Kane to sign with your team to help turn them around into contending, only to fire the coach two weeks later.

What’s the betting line for Kane causing some dramatics before the end of the season now?

Kane bets big oilers make the playoffs and hope they do and them pays off his debts?

It just hurts realizing that our Leafs we never going to get and easier route and competition to the final 4.

Despite his recent extension Sheldon Keefe might be in the biggest coaches hot seat of the frozen North as it will be interesting if he survives this year without a playoff win.

His performances against CBJ and MON already strikes #1 and #2 as he was outcoached by coaches no longer employed by those teams. Its an interesting situation where the losing coach is still employed but the winning coaches unemployed.

Montreal went to the final 4 and that didn't buy their coach any credit for job security, despite losing core players Weber and Price this year to explain their fall from grace.

He should have been fired right after losing 3 -1 to the lousy Habs. Except that his BFF happens to be our GM. Similarily how Holland held on to Tippet for so long

There's nothing Shelond Keefe has done to retain his job let alone getting an extension. That extension is like one of those let me just secure some money for you in case we do let you go, because I am after all your BFF

Remember when kane was the saviour... like i dont wish ill will on people but I was still irked by their actions and hey look at that...this happened.

Not a single person here including me, who wanted Kane said that he was a saviour of any kind. Also, last I checked he has in 5 games he has 4 points, (2g 2a) and 3 fights

He has done exactly what he was brought in to do. That has nothing to do with current situation with coaching
Tippet should have been fired back in December, long before Kane and Oilers were even a thought

Kane is playing sick. I don't think he actually cares what happens to the Oilers. He's just there building up his resume for free agency and at this rate will have half the league sending him offers.

The way he's playing right now is literally the missing puzzle piece to our top 6. Sucks we couldn't get him.

Players have taken some runs at him and he stayed collected and just shook it off quietly. He's not looking to cause any drama this year.

Marcus Foligno suspended 2 games for purposefully kneeing Adam Lowry straight to the head, while he was down on the ice, incapicitated.

That's one third the length of Spezza's kneeing suspension, for those keeping score.

Going hard on kneeing and Spezza getting 6 for what he did is one thing, but the complete lack of consistency, and how elevated Spezza's was compared to every other suspension still irks me.

It is not his first suspension either.

I guess Spezza got hit because he was the first one to do it, and now it is not as serious.

Plus, I am fairly sure Spezza's got reduced to 4 games.

HFOil just had a collective orgasm with Tippet fired.

One would think with the two greatest players ever and in such a weak division (their words not mine) that the Coilers would be gunning for the division title.

Watch McDavid's body language. That kid makes it look like he hates being an Oiler.

Where are the Rangers D when you need them? Poor McDavid needs a punch of pylons standing around and a backup goalie for a "highlight" reel goal to lift his spirits up again.

If Vegas needs to clear millions and millions in cap just to activate Jack Eichel, what are the chances the rest of the league aren’t just waiting to charge an arm and a leg to ruin them? They really should have shed more salary to Buffalo when conceiving of these video game trades.

Marcus hasn't had any suspensions or fines prior (Nick Foligno has), but yes, Spezza's was reduced the 4 games he'd already sat out at the time of the decision

Over time I actually feel my sympathies drift more towards the Edmonton fanbase than McDavid in some ways.

I think they deserve a good team being through the wilderness the way they have been, but being the market that they are I think they almost need a pack rat team almost like Minnesota as opposed to trying to make it work with two sulky superstars.

I’d love to see McDavid on the Leafs, and I think he wants out of there. But I see his bad body language and Draisaitl’s bad body language and I’m more appreciative of Matthews and Marner for growing and maturing year over year. McDavid sure gets his points but I don’t think completely gets it.

Marcus is greasy. Wasn’t he running our goalie in the Minny game?

I just say bring in McDavid, domi, Kane and subban next year
Get torts as coach
Grab pop corn and just sit back
If the cup isn’t in the cards let’s be entertained

I think Domi would be a good add for this year if we can get him under the cap
He's one of those players can be good contributor if he gets his focus right

I always thought he would be a Marchent type of player. Skill is there, the mind isn't

Kane going to Edmonton made zero sense, yet another lapse in judgement from the player. Could've went to FLA, TB, COL, VEG for league minimum, produced with some good linemates and fly under the radar. Cash in come off-season.

Although it's possible none of those teams had any interest in Kane.

I would say it is a lot more than "possible". I would say it was almost certain.

Edmonton was probably the best (or possibly only) team willing to take him. They are that desperate for forward depth.

McDavid and Draisaitl are totally checked out and if Edmonton misses the playoffs I can see one or both of them asking out.

And I empathize with them 110% - look at how that team is run, they get the most exciting player in over 20 years and another guy who’ll be a top-50 all time player and certainly the best one his country has ever produced and the best they can do is make the playoffs half the time? Four coaches in six years? It's embarassing.

It should be said that if the Arizona Coyotes in like 10 years time are finally stable it doesn’t mean Bettman was right for forcing a square peg in a round hole. The amount of time and money spent keeping the franchise in Arizona and afloat is absolutely not worth it.

If I keep punching a door for 20 years instead of simply using the door handle I’ll eventually break it and achieve my goal of getting through, but that doesn’t mean I was right to keep doing it when I had a less painful solution available that I avoided due to stubbornness.
