No, I was just being sarcastic. They laid two eggs vs Vegas and Chicago back to back and scored like 1 goal total or something.

Who knows what kind of coach they need. I actually wonder if McDrai might be difficult to coach like Young Phil was when he was here. “Hey I score 100 points in my sleep, don’t ask me to do X,Y,Z”
Didn't they win 7/8 in a row before that?
McDavid is a good team guy. He'd do whatever is asked f him.

Except get back on defense.. I kid, I kid

But there's certainly an element of truth to it, for the undisputed greatest player in the league, who also happens to play with another one of the best players in the league (TSNs 5th best this year and 3rd best last year), why does their team suck so much? It's a team game I get it and individuals can only have so much impact but the reality is they don't do enough defensively and as a NHL centre defending is a big part of the game.

Anecdotally, too often I've seen McDavid slow to get back and watching as the opposition puts the puck in the net. How does someone who skates like he does get caught up ice so often? The stats look amazing and the advanced stats look terrific too at first but dig a little deeper and there are some troubling signs in there. Too many chances against, too many High Danger Chances against. Both McDavid and Draisaitl are among the worst on the team in both categories, with only young part time players and waiver fodder worse in either category.

“Last night basically confirmed to everyone that the inmates were running the prison (if there was any doubt). There's absolutely no way that any other coach in this league chooses to start a 40 y/o coming off of a 2 month hiatus in back-to-back games. Associative property suggests that this would also apply to the mega-shifts that McDrai take”

Saw this post in the Oilers forum. Perfectly sums things up I’d say.

Firing Tippet is probably a good idea, but their problems are at the GM level, and they just seem to replace bad options with more bad options. Which I guess actually means the primary problem is the upper management.

this tweet says she was hired by the Kraken as the first female scout in NHL history. Didn't we hire Noelle Needham as a scout 4 years ago?

Yes, but the Leafs don't exist in the minds of the Canucks.

I am not even sure Needham was the first, but she certainly was before Granato. Granato may have been the first "pro" scout, but Needham was definitely a scout before her.

It was always odd that despite the added depth that when the going got tough Tippet’s first instinct was to reunite McDrai. What’s the point of getting wingers like Hyman and Kane to support them if they’re still going to play together? How is any chemistry supposed to be built when you don’t give players a chance together?

Either Tippet is an unimaginative dummy, which isn’t unlikely seeing as Holland is the same way, or McDavid and Draisaitl have far too much say in how things are run.

whatever the case is a very good thing tbh....I dont like it...its the nucks...damn it lol

That's 4 coaching changes for Canadian teams mid season right??

Anyone still questioning the QofC of the former North Div now, that we see CDN teams vs the rest of the NHL?

This doesn't even include Ottawa on the list, who are bottom 5 in the league standings..

The 3 other playoff teams last year EDM, WIN, and MON are all on new coaches 1/2 through this year.

Our Leafs missed such a golden opportunity last year of final 4 or bust when you consider the path to the final 4 and new format and Divs.

Everyone knew it was a weak division. For some weird reason not everyone would admit it.

True but if the Leafs has done what was expected of them then people would be using this years results of the other Canadian teams to invalidate that success.

It just hurts realizing that our Leafs we never going to get and easier route and competition to the final 4.

Despite his recent extension Sheldon Keefe might be in the biggest coaches hot seat of the frozen North as it will be interesting if he survives this year without a playoff win.

His performances against CBJ and MON already strikes #1 and #2 as he was outcoached by coaches no longer employed by those teams. Its an interesting situation where the losing coach is still employed but the winning coaches unemployed.

Montreal went to the final 4 and that didn't buy their coach any credit for job security, despite losing core players Weber and Price this year to explain their fall from grace.
