2 for an overtime win
1 for a shootout win
None for any kind of loss, overtime or shootout included.

If you incentivize teams to win in regulation or at 3 on 3, you will get way more interesting games.

Problem is that that system would eliminate a few teams by Christmas and Gary will have none of that.

I'd much prefer this to what's in place, this concept is used for most other leagues & sports, it's just the way it should be (that & always ranking by point %).

I'd say if there's no loser point though, OT should be straight 5v5.

I'm okay with loser points if it were the same as it is now, except regulations wins counted as 3 points, that'd be my preference. Regardless I wish that 3v3 OT was more than 5min, it's entertaining as hell to watch & I'd still consider it hockey.

The way it is now, checking point totals to see how a team is doing can be pretty misleading.

Yea Jets are a joke, one game away from. 500. If they were smart theyd be sellers but they have some pretty bad contracts like Wheeler - 2goals... Schiefele only has 10.

They could probably retool very quickly (like somewhere around 2 years) with some high end picks if they played it smart.

Washington is without Ovi and their backup is in net. Their PP has been brutal. They are really playing an aweful game. Not surprised Edm is still tied though.

Isles are just about out of it. They have to win the 5 games in hand just to get within 5 points of Boston and win all 8 of their games in hand to get within 5 points of Washington.

At this point it would take a ridiculous run to catch up or a ridiculous collapse by either Boston or Washington

Hellybuck made that team look better than who they are last year. Their biggest loss has been Buff. He was their Alpha and no denying they are really missing Laine
As much as one trick pony he is, he's a finisher and he changed the look of that team. He still has a fear factor that he can score from anywhere and big size
