With age defying players... it's incredible really that Bergeron at 36 and Marchand at 33 (34 in May) continue to be Elite. I mean, I hate Marchand, yet how is it he still gets better every year, into his mid 30's? It's crazy. Everyone keeps thinking... oh, sooner or later they are going to drop off... and it keeps not happening.

The Bruins are always competitive because their top line consumes $18.5 mil combined cap or all 3 players and they're highly productive. That allows you to build a deep team around them.

Allows to add a high-end talent like Taylor Hall and now with Rask returning in the next week or so Bruins are getting a #1 goalie for scraps.

The Bruins have been a 1 line team + Krejci for years now

The Bruins have never really had that much depth which is one reason why they haven’t won a cup in 10 years with that group.

They also had Rask and Krejci making $14.2 mill combined. They swapped out Krejci’s salary for an overpaid Hall, who is more of a second liek winger these days. And in doing so have Charlie Coyle as their second line centre.

Theyve actually wasted their ability to secure depth but have made up for it by drafting well (notably Pastrnak, McAvoy, and Carlo).

They also have a great team structure and their young players buy into it. Great culture lead by elite players allowed them to stay competitive. But once Bergeron and Marchand are gone (or decline) that will be interesting

The high end talent you speak of has fewer points and just one more goal than one guy on our team named Alexander Kerfoot. Taylor Hall cannot be called a high end talent anymore, it's not 2017.

Yeah sucks we can't sign 7 goals in 32 games for 6 mil because we have to pay guys who keep us at the top of the standings instead.

You also speak as if Rask is considering any other team. They would get him for scraps regardless how much their stars make.

The difference is they can afford to sign a few 4-6m flops while we can sign one or two $2.5-$4m flops. ;)

I have never been more confident about McDavid being a Leaf in a few years than I am today. That Ken Holland press conference is such an unmitigated disaster.

Holland is such a useless jackass for them. They’re supposed to be in win now mode no? Why is he being so covetous with their futures and willing to waste yet another prime year of McDrai? Just baffling what’s going on over there.

2018 I'd say Boston was the better team so I get it
2019 was no excuse. We played better and went up 1-0,2-1,3-2. Cassidy ran laps around Babcock in a series where both teams were as close to 50/50 as you'll get

2019 really stings
Babs was mentioned and it has to be said that 2019 Babs had all the tools in the world in that series. There would have been ways to utilize those better, but Babs chose not to.

2019 was huge disappointment. Same as 2021.

Yeah 2019 was the best iteration this team has had since arguably 2004. I swear Babcock was coaching against us especially in game 7. Nailing Matthews to the bench and sending Marleau over the boards any chance he had.

A complete waste of a strong roster.

Holland's presser was laughable. I don't believe the guy has any NHL knowledge post 2015. I wouldn't be surprised if Holland thought Rick Nash was still in the league.

Some people just get lucky and ride that luck to fame. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are two big reason why he's still an NHL GM. If his scouts don't get lucky, he's fired long ago in Detroit itself.

TB and FLA both up in their games

All 3 of us are probably winning 50+ this season

Colorado is falling behind by multiple goals against Toronto, Seattle and Nashville and they keep coming back. It's such a track meet mentality but I don't think they can out gun their problems perpetually.
