In other news... Dallas Stars have a covid out break and their games delayed. Not surprised in the least. Prob not a good idea for the practice rink to be shared with the public still.

only way this works is in bubbles. at the very least each division should have say 2 cities to play in. another idea is having teams play each other in week long series like say baseball this way if there is an outbreak you could hopefully contain it before an infected team moves on to the next city.

Season doesn't happen then, no way the players would ever agree to it especially when a lot of them weren't happy with how the playoff bubbles were setup.

All the sports leagues have gotten through positive tests and kept on going. The same will happen here.

Stolarz isn’t an improvement over Wedgewood. Hard pass.

If we claim any goalie, it should be one that is clearly an NHL backup, not another borderline NHL goalie.

Hard pass on Bracco. Another small, skilled forward which we don’t need that will just take a spot from one of our young players.

It'll work, it just won't be clean. Baseball with games every day finished its season. Football with one bye per team finished its regular season. Hockey has more wiggle room than either for schedule 'adjustments', especially since you're only playing seven other teams.

It won't be what everyone likes or is used to, games will be postponed up the wazoo and teams will have to play big games without key players and make up games but there's no reason the NHL can't get through a season if all these other leagues have.

Arizona may be the best bet as to where to look for a goalie to replace Crawford if necessary.

They have Keumper, Raanta & Hill - all of which would need to clear through waivers. Maybe they plan on carrying 3 goalies, but if not maybe they look to deal Raanta.

I’m surprised they haven’t already dealt Raanta like in the off-season. I think they want Hill as the backup and he’s gotta be waiver eligible at this point.

Maybe it’s because they don’t trust either of Kuemper or Raanta health wise.

And Stolarz probably isn’t an upgrade on Wedgewood. I think better goalies than him will probably see waivers within the next week.

A backup goalie with an 0.893 SV % in the AHL last season that's only played 24 NHL games, the last of which came 3 years ago?

:help:
It would at least a be entertaining if people around here tried to rationalize his poor play as being on the defense. Since I always had to read that dumb shit when it was Kinkaid or Schneider.

Or if he has a few good games and people are ready to anoint him as “Maybe a good goalie that was just a late bloomer”.

It sounded like they were trying to sell high on Kuemper which might make sense since the new GM wants some draft picks to replace the ones that the previous regime had lost. I think it was just a buyer's market for goalies this offseason. Columbus was seemingly shopping Korpisalo as well, but most teams could find an adequate goalie in free agency without giving up assets. Buffalo seemingly could still be in the market for the goalie upgrade, but they'd probably need to send one of Hutton/Ullmark back which Arizona probably wouldn't want.

Schneider's gear looks excellent. Surprised he went to all Vaughn after having a mashup of CCM/Vaughn. At one point he had a Bauer blocker, CCM glove, and Vaughn pads. Tweaking everything possible to get his game back. I hope he finds success. He's a good dude.
