You realize the Kings have a better record at home than on the road, right?
The statement was hyperbolic. You understand what I mean.

The Kings have the worst home record of any playoff team in the conference. While they're road record is virtually the same, they're one of the best road teams in the league. They've gone into some tough buildings this year and pulled out wins. That bodes well for us in the playoffs.

I wouldn't even call it home ice advantage with the Kings, more of an away team disadvantage. I don't think the matchups really matter to the Kings all that much, they are comfortable putting a few lines out against other teams top players because of how they play. But to teams coming in dealing with Kopitar can be a problem.

This team just has no buzz at home. The crowds at Staples are weak.

Playing at home is supposed to give the home team an extra energy boost, but it's just not there for the Kings.

Lmao. It will be brutal .

The crowd is so dead now. Was that truly all band wagoner? We used to make some noise.
I think from 14-16 it was because prices for tickets became too expensive so the "rowdy" people couldn't afford it. And now the Kings just aren't as good so all the "rowdy" bandwagon people haven't come back yet.

Seriously. What happened to the people at staples? It's so dead.

It is bad, at least from what I observe on the TV broadcasts.

I compare it to when I go to the ACC in Toronto and the crowd is dead during the first 5-6 minutes of each period because the lower bowl is mostly corporate so they are still getting loaded up on free booze and food in the club lounges.

Couldn't pay me enough to go downtown Toronto anymore....avoid that part like the plague lol

When you've had fairly recent success and championships, the fanbase just isn't as hungry.

An underdog, or an upcoming team from a franchise that hasn't had success in awhile is always the most exciting. Fans can rally behind it. It feels "new".

A team that's mediocre every year thats won championships in recent history just isn't going to generate much buzz.

They generally play uninspired hockey at the start of games and fall behind, killing the crowd. Crowd has been better the past couple of weeks as the games have taken on more importance. I feel like the Kings have been more physical the past few homes games which gets the crowd riled up as well.

Of course, it is louder than it is on TV; however, the LA crowd has never been one to just be insane right off of puck drop and start chants just for the sake of it unless special circumstances such as playoffs, "big game" and/or lots of other team's fans in the building. Entertain them and they will respond. There aren't a lot of atmospheres like Winnipeg and Nashville around the league. Most buildings demand you give them a reason to make noise in order to receive it.

Yeah, not an organically noisy crowd, plus a team that hasn't always been the most exciting, are going to have a tough time helping each other out.

Man oh man. The playoff hatred is starting in the Main Boards along within fans of our division. I have missed this.

i was at the avs game monday, my first time seeing them at staples and i was super impressed by the crowd personally. it's like you say, not super loud for no reason but everyone around me was educated about the game flow. applause for the small plays like clears and good passes, saw plays developing in the neutral zone, etc but went nuts for goals and big hits

When the stakes are raised, the crowd generally responds.

Couple that with entertaining hockey, i.e. an early goal, big hits and a fight, and the crowd is engaged.

yeah the early goal helped a lot i bet

sidenote: are there any seats in the barn with more legroom? i'm assuming i'm gonna have to find 1st row seats next time cause i was jammed permanently into the back of the row in front of me.. not exactly 6'2" friendly

I don't think so if you were in the 300s. I believe they squeezed an extra seat or two in to the rows a few years back which made things even tighter.

I'm 6'4" so I get what you are saying. Fortunately, I'm always sitting between people I know so I spread out to compensate.

i lucked out and found a seat pr17, hell of a view on that end

didn't feel very cramped side-to-side but the knees weren't very happy at the end of the night. seemed like the 1st row guys had a bit more space, probably gonna have to hunt for those next time

As a non-old man....the arena music is too freaking loud.

Every stoppage of play they're blasting something, kills any organic crowd noise or energy that would otherwise develop. Also makes for a sharp contrast once play resumes and the music stops.

Yea it always starts pretty quiet even in the big games. The crowd is like a 2L bottle of coke that's been rolling around in the truck though. If something happens to pop the lid off, it can be deafening. LA fans are best when they start getting cocky and loud.

Im just glad we control our own destiny. Relying on the Hawks looks tenuous at best. They look like a far cry from the team that went toe to toe with us in '14 and won it a year later.
