Obviously I am not a doctor and am not privy to medical records, but Bennett lied about his injury for a long time before having surgery, so there is a chance he did extra damage as a result and only admitted he had the injury when it got worse.
Yes, but Bennett's was also an incremental damage as time went on. He was playing OK during preseason before going for surgery. It wasn't working good, but it wasn't seemingly brutally bad either. Pelt's was due to sudden injury. It's possible the damage level was comparable.
Bennett was also slowed in his recovery before getting into NHL games due to his play style. IMO, Pelts isn't as physical, but will also likely be slowed in his recovery before getting into the NHL due risk of reinjury to his size.
Based on this, that's how I made my guess that Pelts and Bennett likely will require approximately the same period of time to get onto the roster (within 5-10 NHL games). I could be wrong for sure. I'm just saying that's how I came to my guess.
