I know he hasn't been very good this season, and he's never lived up to his draft position, but I'd consider taking a flier on claiming Jost on waivers if we can make the cap work. 2 million, only under contract this season. Maybe Sutter can get something out of him, or he clicks with Backlund or Coleman and gives us a bit of an upgrade on the bottom 6 over what we have without having to give up assets. Worst case we waive him and send him to the AHL.

I think we've got enough guys who can't score for shit.

Really pisses me off this team refuses to believe in its drafting. On the active roster the Flames only have 5 homegrown drafted players. That's ridiculous and while I'm too lazy to look it wouldn't surprise me if that's a NHL low other than Seattle and Vegas.

Yeah but we know they aren't gonna play those guys anyway, so I'd rather take a chsjve on a 24 year old that would ay least bump Lewis back to the 4th line hopefully than trade a 2nd for someone who is barely any better in a month or two lol

Brief summary:
- Flames miss Kylington; progressing but might not be back this season
- No legit contender would have Lucic in the top 6
- Management & coaching probably aren't aligned on player development
- Is Sutter gonna become the next GM, at least behind the scenes? Probably
- Flames ownership is cheap

Mentally preparing to not draft an NHL player over the next 3 years.

So glad the billionaire owners of this team learn from their mistakes:sarcasm::sarcasm:.

Sutter as GM caused more long term damage to this Franchise than any other GM we have had.

If there is truly a rift between Huberdeau and Sutter, making Sutter a GM isn't gonna fix it. We will see Huberdeau traded off at max retention for Drew Doughty

So what you're telling me is that they read HFBoards? :sarcasm:

I don't even understand how coaching and management could be on different wavelengths regarding player development.

Treliving was the one who presided over the ridiculous mishandling of Bennett and Kylington so I don't see how he wouldn't be seeing eye-to-eye with Sutter on plugging rental vets in roles that are too elevated for them

Complete fantasty, but I bet Sutter is playing his "most expensive guys the most" because Treliving pissed him off making a comment to that effect, and Sutter can be petulant that way.

Hope springs eternal

The Flames are tied with the Minnesota Wild with 60 points in the Western Conference. They’re currently on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. Missing the playoffs is not an option for Calgary. And that explains their activity of late.

Bruins GM Don Sweeney isn’t the only GM checking in on everybody, as I wrote about Friday. You can add Calgary GM Brad Treliving to the mix.

There is A LOT of speculation surrounding the Flames. Some of it is pretty wild. Bottom line, Treliving isn’t happy. He is not pleased with his team’s performance and there are even some whispers over the future of head coach Darryl Sutter.

I’d be pretty surprised to see a mid-season change behind the bench in Calgary, but more than two well connected people have brought that up over the last few days.

Saturday’s 7-2 win over Buffalo was significant. The focus now, it appears, is on the ice. Calgary has poked around on several players, including Chychrun. Treliving wants to add up front, too. If there’s a move or two, or three, out there that he feels will improve his club’s chances at making the playoffs, he’s interested in exploring it.

Lots of eyes (insert emoji) on Calgary.

Can't lie, the reactions to starting Markstrom tomorrow would be worth it alone.

The Bedard points would just be icing on the cake.

Now that time has passed, I still wish there was a way to acquire these jerseys other than to find and rob those that won them in the 50/50 draw. :(

Sounds like someone doesn't want a bag skate. :sarcasm:

Sounds more like someone was being bag skated instead of being on his way home after practice...
