weird that leading into the ahl playoffs the flames would bring up both of vali(Mackey)^2. Unless this is a move until thursday to reward valimaki for being a good soldier and upping his pay for a week.
Mackey is regular recall, so uses one of our 4 recall spots for the rest of the season. Valimaki is an emergency recall and thus HAS to be sent down as soon as whoever he replaced is clear to play (I think it's Kylington, so as soon as he is good, Vali HAS to get sent down, unless we use one of our 3 remaining recalls for him). Ruzicka is also on emergency recall (since we have Monahan and Ritchie injured, and Jarnkrok sick).

Sutter saying to the press he came back to coach because he is a Flames fan is hilarious to me, like he was retired on the farm and Geoff Ward was so bad he was like "f*** it I can't watch this anymore" came back and is still a top coach.

Very relatable.

I doubt anybody even hired him, he just showed up at the Dome at the crack of dawn one morning and said I am going to be the coach now.

It's like how all hockey fans talk shit about how they'd be coaching the team and he's the only guy who decided to do something about it

Guess it’s my turn to be a #insiderrrr on stuff, but playoffs will be starting may 3rd for the flames. Think most of us knew this, but I got confirmation from someone who works at the saddledome. I’ll take my likes now thanks ;)

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman's departure from the Scotiabank Saddledome Tuesday night was temporarily delayed by a stuck elevator, evidence of what he says is an arena past its prime.

Bettman was in Calgary for the first game of the Flames-Stars opening round Stanley Cup Playoffs series, during which he expressed his desire for a new rink for both the Flames and Calgarians in a televised intermission interview.

This trade was the rainbow we badly needed after the rain. Losing Chucky, Gaudreau and Willy Joosen...

The vibe is going to be very different this coming season. That's not even fully taking into account the roster and identity changes.

Losing Joosen... that's low key a major loss. I wonder how we'll deal with that and perhaps pay tribute to him. IIRC, some opposition fans thought it was super cool that he'd occasionally play video game and pop songs on the organ.

This idea...

I don't like it, but I like it, except I don't like it, although I really might.

Calgary: If you are looking for the deepest blueline in the league, it’s here. It helps they have the perfect fit for head coach in Darryl Sutter, who excels in forcing opponents to play significant minutes in their own zone – the best type of ‘defence’ that exists in the modern era of hockey. Only thing to watch here of concern is Chris Tanev, who is recovering from labrum surgery. Juuso Valimaki is the likely replacement candidate.
