2018-19 wasn't that far ago haha.
I was worried in March and April of 2018-19. The Flames play really dropped off that last month. When the Flames handily beat the Avs in the first game of the playoffs I said... "the team we saw for most of 2018-19 is back!" Then the bottom fell out.

However, to be honest, I worry about every game the Flames play until they score the first goal (I hate it when they play from behind) and then I'm still nervous until they get a 2 goal lead.
PTSD.

I feel that too.

When the team is good, there is always that rush and worry that exists to see the team win. Last season... well I stopped caring after a while.

Hard to believe we're just barely past the halfway point of the season.

Only 6 of our remaining 35 games will be against Eastern opponents

A bit of a difference. We kind of spent the second half of the season sliding backwards, which did make me worried as a fan during that time instead of just enjoying it.

exactly, and I think it’s safe to assume that Sutter will not let the same thing happen to the squad.

- Highlight of the presser comes at the end when Sutter says the club has had to make a big adjustment in the view of entitlement vs earning your spot in the line-up. Mentions Dube by name because a question about him prompted the answer but also says 3-4 other guys have to realize it's a competition out there.

- It's also another press conference where Sutter bemoans the lack of offensive depth on the team.

- Says he found more value in OT losses to Carolina and Boston than a lot of the wins we've had on this streak

Murray's draft record is pretty good and he would know the Cali teams very well from a pro scouting department but given all the stuff that came out about him being a pretty terrible person to those under him I don't think he has had enough time to really rectify that, this really comes off as an old boys club hiring

It’s funny, OBC is exactly my first thoughts to.

Totally. Also i get the impression Darryl Sutter spoke up for him as Sutter was hired by Murray a few years ago.

Bob Murray is a top 5 hockey GM mind. Pretty amazing news. People were saying the same thing about Darryl before he came here.
Yes and no. Probably as a scout he's gonna be really good again but as a GM the game kind of passed him by & his stubborness to not trade Rakell/Silf/Manson etc.
He'll fit right in because he is a big fan of players like Tkachuk/Gudbranson/Giordano/Lucic/Manson/Kesler and tried to trade for the Flames 2016 pick in a Freddy Andersen deal so he could draft Tkachuk.
He was a scout with Vancouver in 2003 when they drafted Kesler and he just recently drafted a guy with Kesler traits in McTavish.

I also think he'll be used at scouting players to acquire at this years trade deadline.....2 California teams will be sellers for sure.
Rakell/Manson/Hampus Lindholm of any interest to Calgary ?

I honestly don’t think hiring Murray will have any impact on trades. We already landed Toffoli, we can’t acquire another forward without sending Monahan back, but Sutter loves his C’s so I think we’re unlikely to see anything but another depth move up front.

Sutter would LOVE Manson, but what assets as we sending over? Valimaki + Phillips would likely be the best offer we would make. Personally I would love Lindholm, but I don’t see it.

What's the Montreal equivalent of two Pitlicks then?

Some sort of European armpit fetish.

And not the kind you think I might be talking about.
