To be fair he has traded a bunch of the early picks in those 8 years to build this star studded lineup
Yeah I realized that after reading it, I thought I wrote him down already.lol

We have a new defenceman today.
We have a new defenceman today.
I have no idea why Pitlick is bringing nothing to this team. Decent forechecker, but seems like he bobbles pucks consistently. My brother a die-hard Flyers fan told me when we traded for him, that he was awesome on the Flyers, and he really missed his play, but I've seen nothing to speak positively about. Maybe if we get more energy from Ritchie he can sit for a couple of games.I have to say I kind of want to see some degree of Coleman - Backlund - Ritchie purely because that's the one line (moreso duo) that needs a heavy, shoot first F1 forechecker that can get pucks loose. I think just naturally, Ritchie realllly likes to shoot the puck, and he can really get a hard rip off, which when lined up with Mangiapane/Dube (two players who primary offesnive function is to score goals at varying effectivness) it's bad, when with Gaudreau/Lindholm (don't think I need to clarify here) it's bad, but if he got to be with Backlund and Coleman he'd be a much more useful piece than Pitlick, and his lack of defensive prowess matters a lot less when matched up with a 100th percentile guy in Coleman, and a historically strong defender in Backlund. At least that feels like the best theoretical spot for him right now, and the Flames can let Mangi - Dube - Lucic marinate a bit.
For Pitlick, I also can't figure out how unimpactful he is. He has a stride where he looks real engaged, and despite what other people may say I do think he's got a bit of speed in him, but at the same time the only noticeable thing he ever does is be somewhat effective in separating defencemen from the puck on the forecheck. I figure any points he get are going to be off of making a smart play that ends up in a goal, or tap-ins for some regard. He does get really close to making good offensive plays, like I do remember in the past he ripped out from behind the net and did a hard pivot through a defender to get a shot off, but he fell and didnt really get a good shot off of it. Seems like someone who should ideally fit in on a pure energy line or a 4th line, but he's gonna be overused give the Flames depth.I have no idea why Pitlick is bringing nothing to this team. By the way is Valimaki back in the AHL? Still prefer him over Zadorov, but what can I do.

One caveat in that is that the home games are not your typical home stands. They are ultra compressed, and fatigue could play a big role. We'll just have to wait and see.So if I looked correctly Flames have no more Eastern conference road games left this season, and they play 27 home games / 16 road games. Missing playoffs with this schedule would be a huge failure (barring injuries to key players of course)

Looks like the top 7 in Flames scoring are all pacing for career year in points, or already have scored more than before
Wild stat: our entire defence is pacing career years.
I checked every D except Tanev's stats but still didn't realize this as a possiblity and thus, didn't check Tanev's stats.
Monahan, of course, is on pace for the worst year since his rookie season
Pretty crazy.
Dube will have a career year even with his struggles this season.
Coleman will be at or break his career high by the end of the season.
Looch might have high best season since 2018.
Essentially Monahan, Backlund, Lewis and Richardson will be the only 4 players who won't come close to their best seasons.
I'm starting to feel like we're going to be in a position we've never really been in for as long as I can remember. When we play Colorado, Vegas and other contenders down the stretch, we aren't going to be going into the game worried about needing a win. We're just going to be able to enjoy measuring up how good our team is. I don't remember ever feeling that way.
Only games I'm likely to stress about are BoAs.
