Value of: Armia/ Shaw

Both players are very good 3rd line players problem is they are both right wingers neither are what you'd consider a top 6 forward despite playing that role at times . Would Montreal make either available for trade before the trade deadline ? or trade one of them at the draft ? Shaw has 3 years remaining at almost 4 000 000 per and Armia is restricted but definitely getting a raise from his current salary of almost 2 000 000 per.

Can Montreal afford to keep both players ? If not who will they trade and when ?

Habs can't trade either, Shaw is going to be on our 2nd line for the foreseeable future. Also Armia is from the same home town as Kotkaniemi and is one of his heroes. He was so excited to get to play on the same line as him.

Cap space isn't the issue . Both players are 3rd line right wingers and what if Suzuki out plays both players at training camp and makes the team next season he'd likely be the 2nd line right winger ? If there isn't a place for him at center. Even if Suzuki doesn't make the team isn't Lehkonen who's also restricted playing at right wing on 2nd line ? and on left wing Drouin , Tatar , Byron are all ahead of Lehkonen . Depth is good but not if they all play the same position eventually there won't be enough chairs/room to keep everyone.

Is that so? 12G 14A for 26 points in 37 games this year and last year (on a down year), the Jets offered to trade for him but MB refused. There might not be 30 teams knocking on our door but I’m sure Shaw would be a target for a few teams

Where did you hear that the Jets tried to pull off a trade for Shaw? If they really wanted him, they have more then enough young assests that would of got it done. In knowing how tight lipped True North keeps things in Jet land, I call BS!

Shaw is a valuable player. Maybe a little overpaid and regularly injured, but he is a keeper i think. Bergevin will not trade him. He can be on the 4th line with a bigger role in the playoff.

Keep both, they're having great seasons.

We have an excess on the left wing though imo with Drouin, Byron, Lehkonen and Tatar...none of them belong on the 4th line.

We have 3 right handed fowards Gallagher, Shaw and Armia. None of those guys are going anywhere. (4 now with Weise but he's not going to play top 9)

The only right handed prospect that is any close to the nhl is suzuki and there is a very big chance he starts in the AHL next year.

If someone wants to overpay for shaw this summer MAYBE we'll consider it.
