Sticking to my preseason prediction, Leafs don't make the playoffs and Dubas gets a 5 year extension. The fatcats on the Board will refuse they made a mistake.

The Leafs are a bunch of pretty boys having a hissy fit that the fans and press are on their case, Rather then proving us wrong, they just take their $44 million and sulk. They don't know what it takes to succeed. They have their money. They are laughing at the fans all the way to the bank.

I normally feel like I'm much more grounded & calm compared to most posters here.

But this is a meltdown-worthy display so far. Especially given talk about "playing down to opponents" earlier today. How am I, as a fan, supposed to be convinced that this group is growing & evolving, if they continuously display a complete lack of learning their lesson?

Not even sure if meltdown is the right word. This team is just often an unenjoyable product and you can’t ever trust the core personalities to put in a consistent, honest effort. Especially against weaker opposition. Why do I give you my evenings and weekends and sometimes money?

Don't get me wrong. I'm certain we're making the playoffs and such. They'll finish somewhere in the top 3 of their division and all that. But...this game reflects everything wrong with the soul of this team. This isn't the first time that they've under-performed against a team like Arizona. That can happen once in a while.

But they knew going into this game that they've done this in the past and need to bring a best effort. But they can't find any kind of killer instinct. Arizona is tanking! They've getting blown out nightly. There is no excuse for this garbage.

They'll win games and it's fine. But this is why they won't win the division and are going to stare down a team like Tampa again in round 1.
