Hayton was a top five pick four drafts ago (time flies!). I still think his ceiling is a 1b/2a center that just takes a little longer to develop. I like his floor much more than Jenik too. Not saying Jenik can't beat out Hayton on the prospect list but I will still go Hayton at least until the season gets going.

Hayton has the highest potential - Soderstrom is pretty much there too. I’m not as high say you guys are on Jenik - I like his game, but just doesn’t have the high-end skill.

To me Jenik is the type of player who could eclipse even Guenther if all goes right. Turns into a Corey Perry 2.0 type of toxic mutant, but I suspect he is much more likely to be somewhere between Nick Ritchie and Matty Tkachuk, which is an astronomically large gap. Maybe JT Miller is a better comparable.

Not sure about all this Jenik love. Has he been lighting it up over the past 2 seasons and I just didn't pay enough attention?

Jenik was really catching on in Tucson before his call up. I would say he’s passed Hayton just based on that. Hayton has to show a lot in camp and preseason get back in the game

I truly hope Hayton develops into what he was drafted for, but I've always liked Jenik...big fan. He's going to be a fan favorite like Garland and he has more skill than people give him credit for. Review his highlights again when he was at Hamilton...he's got some great hands.

Even in the NHL, Jenik showed that he can move his body. Hayton has not shown that. Hayton looks sluggish and stiff.

Jenik crushed the OHL

Not disagreeing at all. I just think Hayton really got jerked around for three seasons, and what I saw in him at WJC has stuck. We may have the coach in place to get the most out of Hayton and I think Hayton has a better shot than Jenik does to hit their ceiling. I think both of their ceilings are about the same but think Hayton still has a better chance of hitting it, where Jenik has a better chance to exceed his expectations against his draft position but maybe not get to that top 6 mean winger who can score. I think both have a very good chance of being fantastic third liners that are always more valuable to your own team than how others view them.

It's not easy to put Hayton above Jenik, I just think he has the slight edge on upside and we are talking about prospects, not who scores more next year.
