Rights to Christian Fischer

Arizona does not need LD. In addition to Chychrun (and even if they move him), they have:

- Gostisbehere
- Kolyachonok
- Moser

Who are all legit, quality young LD, and behind them a group of guys including Dineen and Capobianco.

So they really don’t need more LD. It’s not a good fit.

I still think the best fit for Pettersson is DET. ANA would also be a good fit if new management is interested in the player.

Arizona doesn’t strike me as a team looking to add a $4 million cap hit on a depth calibre guy.

ARI is specifically looking for players under contract beyond this season, be they need to both hit the cap floor and also have somewhat of a competitive team so they can attract fans to buy tickets (which by all accounts are going to be a fair bit more expensive given the capacity at the arena).

Having said that, the development of their own prospects & young players takes precedent, and given their depth at LD, I don’t see them as a fit.

I still truly believe in Pettersson as a quality 2nd pairing Dman in the future, it might just take him an extra few years to get there. That’s why I think it’s absolutely a worthwhile bet to take for some other teams, DET in particular.

To add a bit to your point, if the cap floor is ~62m, we'll be ~7m shy after we sign Hayton and Crouse to new deals. We need 1 RD, 1 RW, likey a center, maybe a winger depending on who makes the team out of camp, and possibly a 1b netminder. 4 roster spots, $1.75m average per spot. If we do $3.5m average for those 4 spots than we are totally good even if injuries occur.

If there is a fit for the Pens and ARI, it’s Jason Zucker. He’s a great character guy on & off the ice and would be good the young guys, and ARI could then either keep him if they want him around, or trade him at the deadline with retention for a 2nd or 3rd. That’s both a good fit, and good asset management (and would also work well for DET, ANA, CLB and SEA)
