He's really overplayed for his level (I would almost guarantee he is the least known player in the league who is averaging more than 20+ minutes of ice time per game) and it makes his advanced metrics really bad (as does him simply playing a real safeguard stay-at-home role on a really bad team). That said - he's still out there playing top 4 ice time and humongous amounts of shorthanded time every night (which he does well - 4th in the entire league in SH TOI/GP and has positive metrics defensively) on an NHL club so he's turned himself into an actual asset who plays a pretty all-weather game. Late bloomer who has earned his club's confidence and gotten a nice reward.

He’s been great. For a rookie dman he doesn’t panic. Very patient and well poised. Happy for him to get a contract. Not going to blow your skirt up by any means, but a solid guy that can play 5/5 and on the PK.

Seems like a smart move for both sides, he made his debut in his draft+8 season and this guarantees him 5 times more money in the next 3 years than he made in the past 7. And the Coyotes get a dirt cheap dman during the rebuild who’s been surprisingly decent
