Just purchased tickets for the first home game this year for my father and I.

I attended the home opener two years ago after the 1st phase and it was a massacre with the amount of complaints I heard. I have read over the MSG renovation thread, but I figure I would attempt to contribute to the forum by posting and trying to get some feedback. I have a ticket on the bridge so I will post pictures when I have the opportunity. I was more curious on what everyone thought - with expectations, lines on concessions, intermission havoc, etc. The chase bridges feel as though they would be a great view to watch the games, but the vantage point for those above rows 14-15 in the 200s could be less than optimal.

What does everyone think of the entry points to sections or "gateways" as they are called into the viewing area of the ice? I feel as though the design factors of the arena failed to accommodate the casual fan by attempting to increase seating capacity (they failed at that right? 18,2000 to 18021?). Yes New York, largest media market, revenue, corporate bla bla bla.

Just looking for people who think before they speak in regards to the overall structure of the building and if you are attending the game.

Thanks for your input.

I am not excited or looking forward to seeing the completed renovation. Nor was I excited to pay $100 per ticket on TicketBa$tard for section 418 row E as the view is now more limited than in years past...

I will be at the game in my seasons in sec. 109, but I don't expect my experience to be any different than last season.

how is it more limited from that vantage point as compared to years passed? the only thing that changed in the 400's was the physical seats. sightline, legroom, nothing changed from the way the garden used to be.

be there in 213 row 16

Section 111, seasons. I've been going to the home opener every year since the last lockout. Its become a tradition of sorts. Last year's home opener against the Penguins was probably the worst home opener I've ever been to. With the way Lundqvist has been playing against Montreal over the years, I'm almost glad we have Talbot in net. LGR!!!

Does anyone know if there is going to be any pre game festivities in the afternoon?

Will be In section 213 row 1 with my brother and best friend...

Better show up boys!!

on the train at 9am for 7 hr trip down from Rochester. 2 bills for ticket. 3 bills a night for hotel. it all seemed worth it in September.

Wont be there:-) (live in Norway)but I might have to stay up for this one.
Have a good feeling after last nights perfomance.

I bought my friend's tickets (again) so my wife and I will be making our 8th straight appearance at opening night. Considering we met in 2005 I think it's impressive. We also only had seasons for 2 years in the middle. We'll be making the trip from CT and hoping it's better than last year's. That was painful.

Looking forward to some pre-game beers. Usually go to Stout. Any suggestions on a different place? Looking for a great tap list and some good food. Beer > Food.

Cheap good beer and pizza.

My vote goes to Molly Wee (30th and 8th), their tap list isn't as strong as Stout but it's pretty good. Some others:

Local (33rd and 8th)
The Flying Puck (7th ave between 30th/31st)
Irish Times (31st between 7th/8th)

Perhaps the best tap list in NYC is the Ginger Man, (36th between 5th/Madison). Not much in the way of food but it's probably my favorite spot in NY for beer. It's a bit of a walk but worth it.
