For example, are the pens allowed to trade with the caps, or the red wings during the playoffs? I've always been curious of this. Can someone explain why or why not teams are allowed to trade?
I believe there have been a handful of trades during the playoffs in past yrs between a couple of non-playoff teams... but there is minimal incentive to even pull those off... since half the market are still using the assets a non-playoff team may be after..
I can see a few potential (2017) UFAs for draft pick trades being made between now and the end of the playoffs.

No. Trade deadline was March 1. No trades after that

You thinking that cuz of the expansion draft? possibly.
It's a unique yr in which we are told expect some trades we would never see otherwise.. so the timing of trades may be part of that...
