4-15-2013 - NEVER FORGET
bombingvictims.jpg

Hard to believe 4 years have passed since that awful week in Boston's history.

The Bruins and this board were a big part of my healing process as was the entire hockey community.

What I remember most were the tributes from fans of other teams including our biggest rivals.

The night of the bombing this happened in Montreal.

Then came this moment in New York

But what happened in Philadelphia can never, ever be forgotten.

That night the Flyers 50/50 lottery was dedicated to 'One Fund Boston' and it was the largest jackpot they have ever had.

The support everywhere in hockey world meant so much.

On a personal note that was a tough week for me as it turned out I live only 2 blocks from where the bombers called home. The morning that the city was on lockdown it finally hit me when there were news trucks from New York City parked outside my building.

I'll never forget that horrifying day. Nor the aftermath. Including the city shutdown and man hunt; and spending so much time with all of you here with play by play during the chase.

One thing I also won't ever forget, was how we all came together after. People coming from all over the help, to donate, to support each other. I'm no marathon runner myself, but I am a runner, and i remember in the weeks after people honking and shouting when i would lumber along the rode wearing a Boston strong shirt. I wish people could support each other like that all the time!

Youre right on man. Seems like every truly disastrous thing that has happened in my lifetime has brought out the best in humankind. Its such a weird yet wonderful dynamic.

Im almost ashamed to say it .......but....I am still stuck in the pure anger stage.

I dont know if I'll ever get beyond that.

I was walking from Fenway with the intent of going down to the finish line and hang out for a bit before going to the Garden for the Bruins game. I had a sudden impulse to stop for a hot dog at Mass and Boylston and I was in the shop when the bombs exploded some 15 minutes later. Had I not stopped for that dog I would have been on Boylston somewhere.

How someone could be do evil to leave the backpack close to young children just enrages me still. Just madness.
