I love all this Marchand talk. Talk about making up a criticism just to pile on Julien. Marchand is lousy in shootouts. If he gets a shot and misses, people are all over Julien for selecting a guy who hasn't scored in a shootout. Talk about a can't win situation.

And this is all ignoring the joke it is to blame a game on a shootout selection. The team had 65 minutes to beat a terrible team and they failed, and this somehow comes down to the coach not using a shooter who otherwise sucks in shootouts? Gotta be kidding me.

The team had to be spoon fed a breakaway goal by Carolina in order not to lose in regulation. That is the bigger issue with this game.

However, I do feel that the decisions not to use Pasta in overtime and Marchand in the shootout are not without their criticism. I get that Marchand isn't great in the shootout, but the coach threw out a guy who hasn't scored in 4 months instead of some of the top scorers on the team. Now, I haven't seen their practices, so maybe Krug showed something there that I'm not aware of, but it's a curious decision.

That has to count for something towards SOs.

Anyway, yes the canes flub on LEs goal and Za save on the squirt Tuukka let through are really what got them to OT, so I'd agree that the 65 minutes deserve high amounts of criticism. However when you need 2 points, why not use your guys most likely to score?
