Anyone Wonder How Alexander Frolov Would Be Doing On This Team ?

I would.

No campaign to get Alex back in a Kings jersey or so. I'm just curious how some of you feel about this.

Alexander already played 3rd line winger for us. My point; there's no way he hurts this team more, than let's say Gagne, King, Penner etc. That's why its a bit sad he's playing over there in Russia. He should actually wear a Kings jersey for $2.5/$3M a year.

Miss the guy, always been a top 3 scorer on the kings, never understood why we let him go.

I'd take frolov over Penner/Gagne any day.

Fro was a mystery wrapped in enigma. One of my all-time favorite players however he did earn the reputation of a lazy player, something Sutter has little patience for. I don't think it would work.

But I heard Fro is finding success in Europe which is cool.

And keep in mind, the guy was a stud with the puck on his stick.

His laziness might have been a problem yes. His body language didnt help either.

**** him

He had his chance and wanted to show up every couple of nights.

I would much rather have Dwight King in his spot

I loved the guy but the above posters were right, he was so lazy he made Penner look like a hard charger.

He did have his chance, and he ****ed it up. Time to move on for everyone.

C'mon that's a bit harsh. If he would have been that lazy, than he would not have been one the better Kings goal scorers for years. He was not a grinder, but a trashy scorer with a sound two way game. Yes he was floating around so now and then but now it seems like he was a figure skater with a scoring touch who did nothing all game long. You dont score over 30 goals by doing nothing.

But, but, but...according to some [especially on that other site] Frolov was a victim of the coaches and GM's personal agendas, then singles out and punished.I'm sorry, but you dont get the nickname Froloaf because you like to bake bread.

Do you even remember who was on those teams? Of course he led the team in scoring. I think even Derek Armstrong lead the team in scoring one year.

No he did not.

Yes the team was not good, but are you implying his totals were only a result of lack of talent on the team ? Then why the heck did he constantly get invited for the worldchampionships and Olympics.

His wife was pretty hot too.

Not that I advocate trying to acquire him, but I sure did like that Frolov- Handzus-Simmonds combination. It was a load to line up against.

It's not like Frolov is any more risky than players like Gagne/Penner.

Hanging with Brad Doty.
He ran into the same problems in NY. My favorite line from this article is

"While the Russian winger sports solid size and puck possession skills, his game is often a bit passive and he probably suffered from some personality clashes with his last two hard-nosed coaches. He should be more at home (both literally and figuratively) in Russia".

Jesus , this again ?

Frolov wouldn't last two weeks with Sutter.

Again the Kings coach is Darryl Sutter... Think about that.

When he was playing up to his capabilities Frolov was one of my favorite players. The guy was a horse down low and could cycle the puck. His biggest problem was that didn't translate often enough to getting the puck off the boards and to the front of the net.

He needed a pure goal scorer to work with. If I am not mistaken, I think he had one of his best seasons playing with Cammalleri. Frolov would have been a good fit with Carter.

No one is saying the Kings should go out and try to get Fro back. We're just pondering. :)

I disagree with your statement about Sutter though.

i dont understand why people say he would never work under sutter, he had more work ethic than penner thats for sure. sure he looks lethargic at times but so does kopitar and carter. doubt he ever comes back to the nhl though.

Bingo! His line mates would wait, and wait , and wait until he finally got the puck off the boards but by then, they'd be covered and the scoring chance would never happen.
