Injury Report: Another Setback for Helm

So his back aches and the doctors still can't explain why it's happening?

Based on my medical degree which i received from Wikipedia/WebMD, it sounds like some kind of nerve damage.

This just keeps getting worse.. One thing after another with this guy. I just hope his back heals up before the start of training camp.

He's becoming the Mcgowan of the Wings.:shakehead I think it's time to start focusing our potential rosters for next year without Helm. He'll have missed 1 year of time by next January & if he loses much of his speed he becomes a lot less effective. I guess with the development of Andersson, Emmerton, Sheahan & Glendening we should be fine with our bottom 6 centers moving forward.

If Helm does come back next year, assuming he wasn't able to get a full offseason of working out in, we shouldn't expect to see the Helm we all know and love for a season, maybe longer.

The bigger question is where does Helm slot in the line up moving forward. Assuming we go with Z & Dats as the #1 & #2 C that leaves the bottom 2 Center roles for Andersson, Helm, Emmerton & Jarnkrok/Sheahan. If we want to role 3 scoring lines like we are now I think it's best if Helm goes to the 4th line & Andersson/Jarnkrok play the 3rd line for us. :dunno:

Another bang up job by Wings management. Fire the medical staff and consultants.

I'm not sure if serious, but if you are, wow. That's simple-minded sportsfan talk right there.

And no need to start panicking about this. This started in January. I know it's been nearly half a year, but there's a lot of time to heal and get it sorted out. He'll be back. And his back will be...back.

I think its safe to say hes gone till Xmas anyway. Sit by the pool and sip margaritas for a few months ... walk, swim, chill. Then slowly start training again. No point contuinally aggrevating something thats cleary not healed.

A buddy I played Jr A with had shoulder pain for 8 months and after every test in the book they finally discovered cancer and he passed away a year or so later. No implying anything like that with Helm - but every f'ing test in the book should be done (nerve conduction, biopsy, MRI/Ultrasound/Xray/CT).

maybe he just pretends to have pain to get paid for doing nothing?
he still gets paid 2,1 million per year til 2016. i would have pain til 2016 :sarcasm:

If he plays and plays well he can make more money.

I love Helm. I really do.

But we have great guys coming into our team from GR, and our young 3rd line... I'm honestly not that upset about it anymore. I'm more interested in getting Danny D back.

I think he'll be out the entire next season as well.

You guys are a very optimistic bunch. :sarcasm:

Hopefully a few months off with no pushing to get back into the line-up will allow his back to heal properly.

Having him back on a third line with Nyquist and Brunner would give us depth that would cause any team problems.

Well I wasn't thinking he would be back this season anyway.

Just take it easy. If he can't start NEXT season, then there is more reason for concern

I don't think any professional athlete would take that position. You only have so few years where you can play competitively, the last thing you'd want is to be sitting through one of those years, especially with your team in the playoffs.

He has to stop thinking about trying to stay in game shape. Veg on the couch, your season has been done for quite a while. Pick up a Minecraft habit.

I would love to play Minecraft with Helmer...

I hope he gets healthy by next season; he's obviously a key part of the team's success.

It's too bad the situation he's in. This back injury is really odd.
