Okay folks you know the deal by now, it's time to see how good we are at predicting NYR's leading scorer. Last year the poll went overwhelmingly for Panarin, but he ended up edging out Mika by only 1 point. Fox had a great year but wasn't in striking distance.

It will be Zib.

Kakko will take the leap this year and that line will flourish.

Panarin will be tied to Laf for at least a few games before complaining (rightfully) that Laf doesn't do any of what he needs from a line mate.
Having two off wings on the same line is going to lead to so many failed backhand passes in the neutral zone.

Eventually Laf will be replaced by Vesey or Goodrow and Panarin (and Chytil) will be stuck with those black holes of offense.

Fox: 8 goals, 80 assists, 88 points

Zib: 41 goals, 43 assists, 84 points

Panarin: 22 goals, 60 assists, 82 points

Delightfully reasonable as an onlooker yet disappointing as a fan.

Why?

None of that really tells you anything other than Panarin is in decline (which we know already.)

Entirely possible that the people behind those 3 have taken a step or 2 up.

I wouldn't expect overwhelming point totals from any of our forwards.

To compete for the cup, I’d expect at least a few 90 point guys or one 100 point guy and a few 80 point guys, unless we operate under an ironclad defense (Torts style). I don’t see any of those that happening, which tells me we should have sold, as the value of our veterans declines every year.

How many 90 point players did last years cup winner have?

I’d argue that the depth is way more important
