Would be nice to see Verbeek utilize cap space to add an asset for taking Dadonov. For the short term, it's also some skill for Z/Terry to play with, and then we might flip him with retention for next season. Some potential there - but we'll see what we got out of it for now.

Why does Anaheim want him now?

Probably a warm body to fill out the rest of the roster at least until the end of the season. But honestly, if they get an additional pick/prospect out of the deal while taking in that $5 mil cap hit, sure!
