Bob Murray should’ve never let him play in 10-11. Bobs inability to find an additional competent dman led to that.
nah, he showed he was NHL ready his rookie year. they screwed up forcing him to change his game and putting him out there for half the game every night on the top pairing all these years when it was obvious he was not a top pairing d-man

Yeah, Verbeek’s biggest mistake (besides Killorn and Cronin) in his tenure so far was not trading Gibson and Fowler at the same time he traded Lindholm/Manson/Rakell.

Should have completely nuked everything

We would have been exactly just as bad the last 2 years without them anyway.

It was a miscalculation IMO
Yep…. Was 0 point keeping them…. We were still ass with them.

At least then we might’ve got a bit of of real value

I disagree. While his skills might’ve been there physically he wasn’t really. Would’ve really benefited him to spend one more year there, physically he’d get stronger and he’d refine his skills even more.

Best of luck to Cam in Stl. He was my favorite player for a long time. Even have a signed jersey by him. We will finally see how he plays either Parayko or Faulk, both players I had interest in the past. I hope he proves all his detractors wrong now.
As for the trade, I can't really be too mad about it. We've essentially swapped Fowler for a similar level player who plays the right side but is more physical and then instead of adding the top 4 RD he wanted in the summer PV got a top 4 LD in Dumoulin. Took him a round about way to do but got there in the end and the new players better compliment our kids.

I for one am super excited he is going to the Blues. They are 5-2-1 since Montgomery took over, and we can see how much Fowler improves individually and helps the team with a proper coach. Fowler is -129 for his entire career in plus minus, I think with a real coach, he probably gets that lifetime plus minus to at least -80 at the end of his contract.
+50 in a year and a half on a mediocre team would be extremely impressive.

If you’re going to be bad, might as well be really bad and acquire assets that hasten the rebuild.

Moving Fowler is not going to help their scoring issues. No one is producing on this team outside of Terry. It’s pathetic. Verbeek needs to either fire Cronin before more damage is done or hope to find a Top 6 player who can some how lift this team’s offense up. That Killorn contract is looking brutal now.

Baaahahaaa…. I just got back from working out and just saw this… whaaaat the faaaack?

Not the return expected but I guess that is what’s on the market to move Cam with zero retention. Maybe ultimately we moved him as a favor to him… it may have been where Cam wanted to go…

Thank you Cam for the decade+! Always a kind person, terrific skater, and a professional. Good luck!

If you want a positive spin - Trouba should be a better fit for the roster, the financial considerations don't really matter and the term is equal. So we essentially gave up two 4ths and Vaak to upgrade from Fowler to Trouba, with a bonus 2nd rounder coming in the future.
That's a positive spin indeed.

The reality is Verbeek bailed out Rangers, sent an NHL player and a 4th, for a player Rangers would have waived if he was not traded, while he retained on Fowler and sent a 4th to get back 2nd and an guy who will likely never see NHL.

Talk about asset mismanagement.

Haha, I’m taking care of my daughter and just saw that… wow that is a terrible return. Verbeek got fleeced again… or he just caved to move on from Fowler (perhaps Cam pushed it).

5+ million effectively for barely not even a 2nd rounder years out if you include our 4th. I thought there was more demand out there. Perhaps Cam utilized his trade clause to limit the options.
