The problem with Cam is that at his best he could be a legit 2nd guy on the first unit. But here, with some not-so-good-partners, he was asked to be THE guy, the 1st d-men of the team... and no, that wasn't him.

I'm sorry he won't get to 1000, really.

For that idiot of Verbeek this must be a contract-unloading type of trade. Fine.
Can't wait to see to whoever washed up veteran with zero interest in coming to Anaheim he will use these money on.

Say what you want, but as bad as Fowler has been, this team managed to get a worse today.

Anyone upset about this is looking at it from an emotional perspective rather than a logical one.
Because I thought it was beneficial for all sides to find a resolution as soon as possible? Which obviously both Fowler and PV agreed was in their best interest? I never trashed the guy
Talking about this, man. Give me a break with that shit.

what a great way to start the weekend

wish he could've reached 1k games with the ducks, but that's the nature of the business. he's not the same player he was just a few years ago and his presence was hurting the team in more ways than one

no doubt he's an absolute professional and stand up guy though. always showed up to do his job since day one without causing any drama. the 10-11 team is one of my all time favorite ducks teams and he was a big part of that. hope he can lift the cup before his career ends

This team played much worse when Fowler was in the lineup

Inevitable, and that second might even turn out to become a pro, so it's fine. Bye Cam, and enjoy retirement after that contract (as I don't think you'll be able to play much longer).

The Fowler money (and then some) was already spent on Trouba. Between the two trades, the Ducks lose one retention slot for the next two TDL's (that could hurt) and $3 million in cap space.

The trade is whatever. This team is whatever.

Cam was a very good player for us during some great years and some lean years. It was clear he was done in Anaheim, not even wanting to stay for his 1000th game. That's more alarming than anything.

Maybe I should just move to Buffalo. I hear it's lovely this time of year.

Listen, cam has been bad this year, really bad, BUT, the "Fowler sucks" brigade has been one of the most weirdly emotional, nonsensical (and loud) factions this board has ever seen. That finnish vatanen guy level weird.

Maybe chill on the "don't be emotional about cam leaving" bits, that's hysterically unself-aware.
If anything were the more rational side of the fowler coin, as he sucks now…. Team is worse with him in the line up and he’s blocking the youth.

We’re not emotional becuase we don’t see a sentimental value in keeping cam around, that’s the pro fowler crowd.

Nothing weird about it…. We just want what’s best for the team…

You were the side saying things like

- free agents won’t sign here if fowler doesn’t play 1000 games
- you don’t want to see the team without him
- he’s a vet presence
- he’d be better with less mins(also very wrong)

Give it a break…. He’s gone now…. He didn’t get 1000 games and the team is better for it…. Now we just need to rid ourselves of Gibson.

Great start to Christmas! Cheers

This 1000th game non sense has been way over blown, cam nor verbeek cared about it clearly. After the last 2 games fowler played verbeek didn’t hesitate. Good on him

Between NYR not retaining on Trouba and us retaining on Cam, I sure hope Verbeek tidies up that part of his negotiation strategy moving forward.

Not really. It tends to mean a lot to the players.

This is the most confusing thing about the entire Verbeekening. He immediately made a positive statement of weaponizing cap space with the Dadonov trade that wasn’t…and then never did something like that again to the same extent. Like what happened?

Yes, as they play their 1000 game of a season with the franchise in their final season in the league normally. Cam wants another contract after next season. He wants a chance to play more meaningful games asap to turn his career around. That’s what he values

The prospect we got helleson level ? I remember he was way down the depth charts for Colorado. Yet here he is, probably a better dman now than manson is. At a fraction of the price.

Not even close, Helleson was a second round pick that Avs fans considered a surefire NHL defender. Jeremie is a poor man's Noah Warren, unless his play has evolved by leaps and bounds in thr ECHL he's a contract slot and that's it.

I mean the two situations were completely different. NYR was never going to retain because they were OK with waiving him. We were never going to waive Fowler.
Sure, and it's moot right now. I'm just hoping the perceived oversight doesn't trickle into deals in the future where it'll likely matter more.
