Ducks make out like bandits.

$1.4M over the cap assuming everyone on LTIR stays there. $3.3M in LTIR relief baked in there, but that will disappear.

How does this work?

Currently carrying 3 goalies due to the day to day injury to Bernier, and Etem's salary hasn't been removed. Send both them down + a Dman, add Lindholm + Rakell and we are just under the cap.

Wow Lindholm should fire his agent. Not a good deal for him.
Not much an agent can do for an RFA, other than wait for the rare attractive offer sheet that may never come.

I'm going to be the dumb one that asks the really stupid question here. How doesn't any team offer sheet him for $7,500,000. He's easily worth first, second and third-round picks from a good team that won't draft high.
There's not that many teams that have the cap space. There's not many teams that have the cap space and have the picks. There's not many teams that have the cap space, have the picks and are more attractive to Lindholm. And some of them might have further reservations about offer sheets and their impending RFAs going forward.

Another contract that makes Ekblad's look terrible.

Correct. And throughout the whole negotiation it was rumored Lindholm's camp was using Ekblad as a reference instead of Rielly/Ristolainen, which is honestly fair because I believe Lindholm is currently better than Ekblad although with a bit less upside.

Just crazy how GIANT of an outlier the Ekblad deal now is. The only player close to him RFA-wise in recent years is Lindholm, and he just took a large paycut by choice or by virtue of BMs negotiation wizardry who cares.

Also, selfishly, HAHAHA TROUBA!

This is a contract that he could have received but Lindholm is better. Not gonna help is AAV go up.

He didn't have to sign it

It's lemieux's fault for letting it get to the point where he's a few weeks away from losing an entire years salary and he's virtually forced to accept whatever BM is giving. But there's no way of telling what BM was offering before. It's quite plausible BM just dominated Lemiuex here.

The Lindholm camp made it way too obvious they wanted to stay in Anaheim. His buddy Rakell got signed for 6, the writing was on the wall. BM took a really smart, cunning, approach to this one.

For the sake of Jets fans I hope this helps Trouba and management reach an agreement.

If nothing else it should help sort out the rumors of wanting big dollars vs wanting to play on the right side. If the latter is true, jets are still screwed sadly

Sorry HF, guess you can't have Lindholm for cheap.

Holdout was worth it for that contract.

Isn't his big complaint about what side he plays? Is there no way to accommodate that?

Most people believe that's just a smoke screen for wanting out of Winnipeg no matter the cost.

If he wanted to play the right side in a top role, he could have earned it. The Jets had him marked down to play next to Buff on the first line so he would be seeing 25 minutes a night. He's giving up all this money and play time simply because he doesn't want to be on the left??? I don't buy it.

Plus his agent confirmed that they are not even listening to offers from the Jets. They haven't looked at one yet. It's not because the Jets aren't calling. It's because they aren't picking up.
