What would the Flames need to get an upgrade on Noah Hanifin? Well he's a good 2nd pairing LHD, he was made to do more than he needed in the playoffs. For an upgrade, what would the Flames need to add?
What players would you think are an upgrade?

Chychrun for Wolf, Coronato and your ‘23 1st?

I mean what would we be doing for Hanifin? Unless Hanifin gets a 2nd line winger back, Hanifin needs to be part of this package. But if that's the case we can't afford to give up both Wolf and Coronato. What about Hanifin, Zary, and 1st?

Wolf is one of Calgary's untouchables especially with Markstrom's recent performance. Also I don't think Chychrun would be the kind of number one Calgary would be looking for.

Rangers likely have to cough up Lindgren, Fox's 1LD partner, to generate cap space, meaning the return must be best pick(s), not prospects, b'c they obv carry no cap hit. Would not be a dynamic unicorn like StL's Parayko, but is reliable, physical, mobile, clear the crease d first D.

late 1st is not enuf and you don't have a 2022 1st

Perhaps CGY 2022 2nd + 2023 1st
for
Lindgren + Rangers 2024 2nd + Geo rfa rights + Nemeth 2.5 x 2

Lindgren add facilitates Hanifin to highest bidder.
Geo as a starter would make Markstrom available for a return
[when he's spot on, Marky is better but inexplicably, he crapped the bed this time out, so do you want to rely on that?]

Nemeth is a you do me a favor consideration, helps NY w/cap

Lol @ Lindgren being worth a 1st rd pick

And funny how you're dumping a cap dumo without any incentives going to the other team

Bern, the Rangers aren't moving Lindgren. The organization and fans love the guy. He's a warrior and an extremely solid defender. On top of that, he 's got a cap hit of $3M. Stop beating a dead horse.

Maybe not, but I would take Lindgren over Hanifan all day, every day.

CGY should NOT trade Hannifin. He’s still young and will only get better. If you want to add another Dman, that’s fine, but don’t move Hannfin.

Most people don’t realize or remember that the majority of DMen don’t peak or reach their full potential until their late 20s or even early 30’s.

Hannifin will be just fine. The fact that he faced some challenges and disappointments in these playoffs, that should only help him learn from it and push him to become even better. That’s what good players do.

Issue with Hannafin is that while he posses the skating, size and decent offensive skills he doesn’t have a brain for defending/Hockey IQ. He is Jake Gardiner 2.0. If he plays sheltered mins and PP he looks decent other than the boneheaded play every once in a while. Nobody is trading a better defender for that.

Maybe if there is a big age gap but generally I agree.

All kinds of takes in this thread already.
The guy was incredible for Calgary the entire season; he got victimized by the best player in the world and had a bad series; it happens.

Calgary needs to be adding on top of Hanifin and Andersson because without Tanev this team was unable to defend in general.

Markstrom has four more years left and a NMC, right? If your future is now, he’s the goalie of the future.
Well, first of all, whether the future is now depends on what happens with Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

Secondly, the Flames aren't going to start looking for a new goalie only after Markstrom's deal is done or close to it. Wolf is just 21 and only on the first year of his entry level contract. If he ends up being the succession plan, then the timeline is pretty much perfect.

What are Calgary untouchables if you need a new 1LD?
Uh depends on number one defensemen available I imagine. Outside of Wolf, there's still literally everything else.

Bad playoffs. He was godawaful in both series.

And his regular season was up and down. Hanifin is actually is what Kylington haters think Kylington is.
