Few observations:

Brad Lambert can skate, handle puck and playmake, his shot seemed weak in comparison. Watch the hype.

Askarov is G-money.

Germany is gonna get eaten alive in the tournament.

This is probably overreacting but that 2019 US draft class seems overrated to me, 1.5 years after being picked.

There was some stat padding with 2019 class, but Cole Caufield is the real deal. It isn't easy to see since most stats break up the league totals, but Caulfield scored like a 100 goals during his draft year. I think he's the real deal. But all in all you see a lot of not just good, but great young athletes between the two draft classes.

Askarov is a man among boys out there. Chistaykov looks like a really legit prospect. Shak's the real deal. He looks like a front line defender.

Brad's got some sick skills. See a lot of William Nylander style wise, but he's on his off wing more. Really dangerous option the powerplay.

Damn good to have some hockey back.

Given Berard's draft position and age (being one of the younger 2020 draftees) looks surprisingly good in comparison to more accoladed teammates.

He's in the perfect program for his game in Providence. Like Moynahan as well. Thought there was plenty of rust, but overall I expect them to tighten things up a bit.

Whats crazy is that for all the talent that group has, they've won NOTHING.

Also I thought Askarov was horrendous yesterday. Looked like MAF at his worst flailing around everywhere and is lucky that he only gave up 3. He can handle the puck like a mother f***er though.

Zegras will at very least be a super threat on the pp. Kid is really fun to watch

Excited to see him play in the NHL, hope he will come up some time this season. I think he is almost there for the NHL level. He is also a local kid from Bedford NY, which is pretty cool.

Russia has a double advantage in terms of first - its players having a constant game play experience prior to the tournament, and second - playing against grown men so learning how to deal with physical aspect of the game and developing an experience of how not to wilt and / or quickly recover when things don’t go your way.

Watching the Berard highlights from last night reminded me that we really dont have enough of that play style with our current forwards. Fast was the most effective version of that. Now, I guess it Kreider, Howden, Lemieux? We have to hope that Gauthier can become a player like this. But it's such a big difference in playing style compared to what he's done at lower levels. If the forward group could add a few Carl Hagelin types it'll become a lot more formidable and versatile. Maybe down the road Berard can be one of those guys.

A lot of Marchand in his game, but maybe a Brendan Gallagher type realism. Has great control of the puck and finishes his checks. High motor, too.

Like what I saw last night!!

Yup.

Russian D has size and generally was able to use it in front of the net against the US. Berard was one of the very few who were able to generate something against them down low and near the paint. Boldy and Caufield were the others I could think of off the top of my head. But Boldy has also size, as I mentioned both Caufield and Boldy have higher pedigree and more experience.

Lafreniere as well

And that was like his 3rd shift of the game. Had a big hit on a previous shift.

Awful hit. No excuses.

Height differential shouldn't matter. If you're that much taller than the competition, you are taught to control your height better.

All these injuries so far is more than enough of a reason for me why not sending Kakko and Lafreniere to this tourney was correct. Dach getting hurt and possibly missing NHL time for a juniors game is costly and I could only imagine the reaction if it happen to Laf or Kakko.

You cannot send players that will without a doubt be in the NHL in a few weeks to play in this.

I'm glad Gorton and JD said no for these two, even though getting to see them in action again would be great, we only got 3 more weeks until that happens.
