He was an accomplished diver his entire time here. Ranger fans just largely wouldn't allow themselves to see it early in his career.

Anyways, no issue with Ryan Callahan. Glad they made the right decision not to commit to him then, but certainly no ill will from me.
He was world class at throwing his head back when a high stick was anywhere near him.

I'd put Dubinsky ahead of Callahan in terms of "heart" as well. Two things never sat well with me re: Callahan. One was the dogging it during his contract year, and the other was the way he just started to shamelessly dive in the last couple of years he was here. He'd always done it to an extent, but towards the end, he'd be flailing on the ice at least once a game. The Callahan of the Pack Line era was amazing and such a key part of this team. The Callahan that got the C and then started diving and half-assing it over contract negotiations? Not so much.
Callahan was a massive diver his whole time as a Ranger

Hank for sure, then you could make a pretty good argument for Girardi, Staal, and Fast. The big knock of Callahan that takes him way out of it is dogging it through his contract season before he got traded (same reason Zuccarello isn't in the running for this sort of thing either)

Shame on you for forgetting MacTrack

And shame on me for forgetting Stepan.

How anyone could shit on Fast at this point is beyond me. Dude played his heart out every game. Was he overused? Probably. Was that his fault? No. He'd give you the same effort whether he was on the fourth line with a slug like Glass or playing with Panarin--and that effort was "full". He won the Players' Player award five times in a row, and it wasn't because he was just a chill bro. He played f***ing hard and did all the little things.

Fast gave this franchise all he had over his six-plus seasons here. That is literally an indisputable fact.

Definitely, he was Callahan with less offense and didn't pout his way through a contract season

Dude started this Callahan challenge. This is not going to get through and might just extend the nonsense.

Nobody is "shitting on fast".

Team is absolutely going to miss him next season

How does Berrard's game compare to a Brendan Gallagher?

Similar build I believe.

Cally was absolutely a top 6er in NY. Mostly a second liner. Some of it was by need but he had a good track record. Remember that one season (2010-11) when half the team was injured and his line along with a rookie Stepan essentially carried the team all year? He scored 20 goals 3x and missed a 4th by one.

Zuc (who everyone knows I was very hard on only because of how he was ranked vs. what he actually did) and Fast were the closest heart and soul players to Cally.

Every team needs one or two guys like that up front. Maybe it's Gauthier, maybe Lemiuex if he continues to develop. Gettinger could be a very longshot but I don't know if he'll translate the offense.

Maybe it is Berrard when this team is ready to make a run.
