There's a thread on the Stanley Cup Finals forum about a hypothetical meeting between an All-Time Penguins team vs All-Time Predators team and it got me thinking about an All-time Kings team. Would it be something like this?

Luc Robitaille- Wayne Gretzky- Jari Kurri
Charlie Simmer- Marcel Dionne- Dave Taylor
Jeff Carter- Anze Kopitar- Dustin Brown
Ziggy Palfy- Bernie Nicholls- Butch Goring

Rob Blake- Drew Doughty
Ľubomír Višňovský - Marty McSorley
Mattias Norström- Willie Mitchell

Jonathan Quick
Rogie Vachon

Goring is great and all, but the thought of Deadmarsh rolling on the 4th line is nice.

I think we've done this on here before so you may want to search for it. I think I tried to put together more of a "team" than just the best players so I took style of play in the account for the 4th line.

Love the McSorley inclusion but others can probably think of a better defenseman.

I'm going by best season played for the Kings or best season after playing for the Kings. But I don't count before they played for the Kings...I call this the Sawchuk rule. I am willing to put guys traded for each other...I call this the Carson rule.

Players can develop but they can never recapture their abilities.

Palffy-Gretzky-Nicholls
Simmer-Dionne-Taylor
Robitaille-Kurri-Sandstrom
Deadmarsh-Kopitar-Carter

Blake-Coffey
Norstrom-Doughty

I have a hard time not including Allison. He was so good here in limited time with PPG being much more impressive than Kurri's good 92-93 due to the eras. Natural C as well.

Nichols would go over Kurri for me as well.

Kurri is better than both but was he better during his Kings stint than Bernie was or even Allison?

****...Allison was awesome. What a kick in the nuts to lose him and Deadmarsh.

When you look back at it we have had some pretty phenomenal players come through our organization. Could you imagine doing this with the Edmonton Oilers. Gretzky, McDavid, and Messier down the middle.

Palffy - Gretzky - Nichols
Triple threat
Robitaille - Kopitar - Sandstrom
Deadmarsh - Carter - Kurri
Brown

Blake - Doughty
Duchesne - Norstrom
Murphy - Visnovsky

Quick
Vachon

So many honorable mentions

Probably one of the worst things I have had to get over since I started cheering for the Kings in 88. I loved watching both players. Allison was our Kopitar and Deader was our Brown. Imagine 4 years ago what our team would have been like losing Kopitar and Brown for good. Bad memories

I'll go with All-Time players that I actually had a chance to watch.

Frolov-Kopitar-Simmonds
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Lucic-Richards-Brown
Gaborik-Cammalleri-Williams

Muzzin-Doughty
Visnovsky-Blake
Norstrom-Voynov

Quick

Ivanans, Clifford, Westgarth, Modin, Parse, Moller, Ersberg, Labarbera and of course Frolov. Basically a who's who of Kings nobodies.

You take that back RP!

I like this one. Those third and fourth lines can shut other teams down as well as score.

That's tough,

Lappy, Ferraro, Conroy, and Demitra are lesser know lights in short stints for me.

Tonelli, Robinson, Vinny, and Iggy I'm glad I got to see in LA too.

Didn't really watch pre Gretzky era.

Marty will always be an all time favorite for me.

Palffy - Gretzky - Nichols
Robitaille - Dionne - Carter
Simmer - Kopitar - Taylor
Deadmarsh - Allison - Goring
Brown, Demitra, Grimson or Willams as the enforcer

Blake - Doughty
Robinson - Coffee
Murphy - Duchesne
Norstrom, McSorely

Thanks, I tried to think about real line chemistry along with roles. Allison did not make my cut for center because I had difficulty slotting his role over a guy like Kopitar, a relatively flawless player, or a guy like Richards, an elite role player. For example, as a 4th line, who do I trust to check/defend the other team's Yzerman or Jagr? Definitely Kopitar and Richards can hang. Not sure about Allison. And with Gretzky and Dionne, Kings have awesome center depth.

I think Allison makes Washington's team, maybe Boston too.

In 1992, while Gretzky was out injured, Jari Kurri centered new captain Luc Robitaille and Tomas Sandstrom. With Blake and Coffey with help from Sydor and Zhitnik on defense, Kurri for the first half of the season paced Mario Lemieux in scoring while leading the league in +/- at the same time.

The Kings were on fire and seemed unbeatable. It was cut short by a two-handed tomahawk chop to Sandstrom's wrist courtesy of Doug Gilmour. That was the most dominant run by any centerman on the Kings I've ever seen and that includes Gretzky.
