IMO, this is arguably the 1st/only time that Werenski has actually played like a true #1D and a legitimate Norris candidate.

The same issue question exists, as it has for years. WHO to play with him??

What’re your thoughts on Fabbro with him so far?

Werenski is having a career season.

Leads the league in TOI/game, T-1 among Dmen in even-strength goals, 3rd among Dmen in points.

good on him. classy player and i hope he does well. good to see him healthy, too.

i guess we could say that he needs a 'better' partner, but it seems to be working right now.

Zach named to Team Canada for 4 Nations. Sets him up for a trip to Olympics next year if he continues his level of play.

Come on. How many times have we heard about Zach being good friends with Dylan Larkin growing up in Michigan during games against the Redwings? You can’t screw up his nationality. :wg:

It's fun watching Z put it all together. I honestly didn't think that he was near this good.

Maybe it's because of his skating style-there's nothing furious/fast looking about it so I'll guess that why I underestimated it. That he regularly goes behind/close to the goal line in the offensive zone and rarely gets caught up ice defensively is pretty remarkable.

Certainly trending toward a top 3 in the Norris voting no doubt. As he recently said it's about putting it together for a whole season and not just 20 games. I don't see any reason why he can't continue to play like he has.

Preds fan coming in peace. We love seeing Fabbro succeed. Y'all got a good one for free.

Had a question that maybe y'all can answer for me: is this the best hockey Werenski has played in his career? Was debating with Nashville's local radio hosts about how dumb it was to waive Fabbro and said look at how he helped Werenski and Josi play a more offensive game and to just be dependable, not flashy.

They claimed Werenski's best hockey was with Seth Jones but IDK about that.

Curious for your perspectives

Werenski, as an individual player, is playing better than he ever has. It has everything to do with his increased mobility and overall physical ability. He has looked like the same player with Severson, Provorov, and now Fabbro. Different players and play styles mesh differently. Each one of these guys has looked very good at different parts of the year, IMO, non coincidentally mostly when they are playing with Werenski.

The Werenski-Jones pairing was clearly the most effective or impactful as a pairing, even if Werenski wasn’t at his “peak”, which he seems to be at right now.

I think Christiansen would be just as good of an option with Werenski than Fabbro is. And Severson is just as good or a better partner than Provorov is. IMO

I don’t think this team will go very far with a Werenski-Fabbro top pair.

This is correct.

Mostly because Zach is just that damn good, I think a Werenski-Fabbro pairing might take us very far.

It's a limited sample so far, and playoffs might be a different story for a smaller D like Fabbro, but so far that duo is outscoring opponents 2-1. That's not something Werenski-Jones ever did.

Is it time to consider Werenski as one of the best players in franchise history? Right now I’d have to say it’s Bob, and Z probably hasn’t passed him yet. But he might be getting close

Bob had the two Vezina’s. It would be great if Werenski gets a top 3 Norris finish this season.

I think I would rank them

Bob
Werenski
Nash
Cam

If he continues on this trajectory, he definitely could be at the top of most people's lists, factoring in both peak level and career numbers.

I'd probably vote for Bob right now, but may not be long before Z sways me. Panarin would be up there in terms of best CBJ season.

I have the same top 4, and if you made it a top 5 it might have to be Foligno
Foligno would probably be my #5.
More Seth Jones PTSD?

Dude did get Norris votes, and he deserved them. It’s also worth to mention how different the team played most of the time back then, and just how low scoring of a team they were. Having Atkinson and Foligno before Jones is nonsense,IMO.

Panarin was the best to ever play with the CBJ jersey on, unfortunately for as short as it was. Neither he, Nash, or Jones should be looked at negatively however.

Guys like Fedorov and Gaborik belong on a list also.
