it seemed odd there was such a silence from what used to be such a good friend, a journalist on an upward trajectory, hadn't mentioned anything on her transparent twitter feed about her in quite some time. including moving out or about the coming nuptials. makes more sense. and that isn't a knock should that person happen to see this, it's actually a thumbs up.

I think the more likely scenario with Bear is option D: he wasn't good enough to get his QO nor to garner enough interest for anyone to trade even a low pick for him when he'll be a UFA in a few days. I'm not opposed to bringing him back, but better be for like $1.2M or something...even then I think I'd rather see Chatfield.

I was really impressed with Chatfield. I'm not saying we should pencil him into a top 4 role or anything close to that but I think he could definitely hold down a bottom pair spot next year

Same here. He's one of those solid, cheap bottom-pair guys that gives you the flexibility to make other moves.

He's like the d-man version of Lorentz. Can skate with NHLers and has decent enough hockey sense but that's about it. Nothing else in their game really stands out.

I think Chicago knows he was propped up by Kane and Debrincat. He wouldnt be worth the arbitration ruling he would get.

That could be a reason, but here's the thing: Chicago is going to be godawful and won't be short of cap space. There's no reason to not hold onto these players and try to get assets for them at the trade deadline. Not QOing them feels like a club that's going to spend to the cap, but we KNOW that's not going to be the case!

Probably just going to bid everyone up on UFAs...or clearing space to gain assets for retention on trades

The Canadiens are up against the cap ceiling, 1.9 million remaining, and it's rumored the Canes are looking at Christian Dvorak. Would the Habs trade Dvorak for Ryan Suzuki (and maybe a mid round pick), putting the Brothers together? And as a Canes Fan would you go for such a trade?

I know, we will sign Pk and then trade with the Sabres for Malcolm and have the Subban Brothers on the team.

Just injecting a little humor for everyone.

Dylan Strome from January to the end of the season put up 41 pts in 49 games, tho keep in mind he was getting around 20 minutes a night as the 1C with Kane & Debrincat. I think he could fit nicely as our 2C. I'm still nervous running KK or Necas as our potential 2C.

We start to movement in the market as guys aren’t QO’d and big free agents are unsigned past the 8 year offer deadline? Teams know which FAs they want to target and how much they need to clear to make it happen.

I don’t think more of Strome than I do of Koko. I think more of Necas than either of them. I know he put up some points but he’s pretty meh to watch generally and it felt like he wore out his welcome awhile ago with the Hawks, who could’ve really used him the whole time.

I think we’re gonna find out the value of last seasons move this season. I think Koko will be number two.
