1) Rinzel turns 21 in June. He should definitely be playing pro next season.
I sure hope so and I think the Hawks will offer him a contract. Just a matter of if he signs it or not.

2) Kantserov is red hot. Super excited for him as potential steal gem.
This is so cool

3) No need to write off Hayes. He’s an AHL rookie and has two more years of being waiver-exempt. Acknowledge the ceiling isn’t super high but saying no nhl future is too harsh.

I'm not writing him off. I only said 'I don't see much of a future as a pro'. I hope I'm wrong but the guy isn't very noticeable out there
4) most guys are doing pretty well. Just gotta stay patient
For sure. KK looks like a real player tonight.

Kantserov and Rinzel are easily KDs two best picks so far

also Hayes isnt very good. so vanilla. id put his odds of becoming a full time NHLer at like <5%.

Let me introduce you to Jack Rinzel. The S&C coach at Idaho and Sam's older brother. The better question is whether Sam will keep his mobility when he comes an absolute unit when he grows up.

Yup , that's another reason that RINZEL is looking like GOLD !! 6 ' 5" frame , excelling now and can easily add 20lbs , maybe 35lbs .Speed ,size and smarts .

Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakn' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation

While I appreciate Scouching putting so much work into this, I disagree with a lot of it. I expected, or hoped, that he'd be a little more positive about Nazar's game and he really wasn't. Complained a lot about Nazar's boardwork, which I get, small player is gonna struggle there more than big guys.

But it's weird whenever he brings up Nazar's skating, acting as if it's merely good instead of high end. Nazar is a legit burner, has been since his draft. And that's not just my opinion on him, EP Rinkside gave listed him as the best transition forward in his draft and 2nd best straight line skater (according to their 2022 draft guide). It's not like Nazar's hip injury is still slowing him down, not from what I've seen from him.

Though I know Scouching's rankings and reviews of players are generally pretty controversial, especially here at HFB, so maybe I should take his views with a grain of salt.

Fair enough, but it's worth noting this is a one game breakdown he's drawing conclusions from.

I didn't take it as a definitive scouting report, more just what his concerns would be from what he saw in this game.

Nazar is a really good skater and a pretty good board player, especially at his size. If you told me that he needs to work on play selection and turnovers, I'd agree. He often tries to do too much. But those two things? IDK man, feels like you clipped one game and drew a whole host of conclusions.

One of the things I actually really like about Nazar is that, despite being an absolute burner, he doesn't play fast all the time and can actually slow things down and conserve energy. Seems like some people watch him do that and assume that he is just not that fast.

Yep. Moore has been working on that but Nazar has always done a great job of changing pace.

That's what I felt like he was going for with this series. I'll have to watch other players he's done but I'm pretty sure these videos specifically are just one game analysis. He focuses mainly on draft eligible players so I assume he's not still tracking these guys, this is just a one game check-in.

He's a data geek. I bet he doesn't watch much hockey at all. And if he does, he doesn't understand what he's watching.

I wouldn’t expect a single guy to have a super detailed report on every player. But sometimes guys pass it off like they do and that’s jokes.
