That's Hartnell, not shaw on the rightView attachment 1034969
Brent Flahr and new Flyers' Head Coach Brad Shaw discuss the Flyers' draft strategy....
I am truly baffled how Tocchet is viewed as this amazing coach. Well, i'm not actually baffled because I know that people that run professional sports franchises are dumbasses a lot of the time.
I’d rather have Shaw than most of these options tbh. Much easier to move on from when the time comes.
It’s a real shame the Phantoms didn’t advance to the next round… could’ve had Tocchet and Lappy drop the gloves at the first intermission of the next home game. Winner gets the 6 year / 6MM per head coaching contract!Things the Flyers know well:
Gimmick nights
Honestly, the Flyers probably don't even view him as an amazing coach, it's just name recognition and that he was a former Flyer so all the old, authentics will eat it up and the Flyers are hoping that will be enough for the next couple of years.I really would love it if this organization didn't feel the need to do things that infuriate me all of the time.
Not asking for much. Just here and there something that makes sense and has actual thought behind it.

People liked to call Tortorella a winner and as shitty as his resume is it's still far and a way better than Rick Tocchet's who is also labeled a winner (despite never actually winning ANYTHING).
BLAHHHHHHH
The Flyers are sweetening the pot by adding a hair transplant contract rider...Can't wait to see the massive contract the Flyers throw at Tocchet
Hopefully he signs elsewhere, just so the idiots running this team have to deal with the reality of the Flyers not being a premiere destination like they romanticize it to be.
Lappy + being bad for a few more years would definitely be the best plan. A couple top 5 picks would go a long ways to injecting talent into this roster.I still maintain Lappy and Shaw are the best case scenario. There are 2-3 coaches that are considered good in the NHL and still many maintain they suck and should be fired.
#Bingo ^^^..Honestly, the Flyers probably don't even view him as an amazing coach, it's just name recognition and that he was a former Flyer so all the old, authentics will eat it up and the Flyers are hoping that will be enough for the next couple of years.

What tank? They have no designs on being bad this year. They’re ready to hang the “mission accomplished” banner on this rebuild.
Shaw on a short-term deal vs Tocchet on a long-term one is a no-brainer. Shaw all the way. Guys like Cooper and Brind'Amour could shake loose over the next few years and there's no rush to finding a win-now coach.
Flahr dropping a deuce in his diaper...This organization is always 1 year too early or 1 year too late on everything (draft, UFA's, coaches, management, etc).
Bad news comes in three's (so far we have dropped in the draft and Tocchet as likely incoming coach), I wonder what the drops next...
1. get Hughes from Vancouver HERE for the 6th pick overall plus(drysdale?)
2. sign Tocchet
3. Hughes is only 25 yrs old and in his prime for at least 5 more yrs.
4. maybe Ersson is a #1 goalie eventually .
5. If the above happens they'll be playoff bound in no time with the young players knocking on the door.
now's the time to invest while MM is still young and build around him !!
Honestly would be a more economically viable option. Even on the realistic optimistic scale for these next couple of seasons you’re probably going to be a mediocre roster. So why pay top dollar now?
They basically did the same thing with AV & Tortorella. After next year that’s essentially $14M in contract these guys had not to coach here & both deserved to go sooner than they actually did.
But this is the Flyers. They’re not realistic & they just think throwing a ton of money at something means they’re actually getting the quality out of it when often times that hasn’t been the case.
Actually, that is all they've hired....highly "offensive" coaches...I think it would be nice if they had a coach who allowed offense.
