Pageau ... fits the character player bruins covet , hard to play against, intelligent, team first. He can easily play up and down the line up, bump Krejci down if need be, plays pk, and pp.

Bergeron and Pageau faceoff specialist tops in the league with Pageau at 54 and Bergeron 58.

Any of the centers go town Pageau easily steps in.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau is key to Ottawa's future – whether he signs long-term or is traded - TheHockeyNews

Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a hat trick for the Senators Wednesday night in their win over the New Jersey Devils, giving him eight goals in his past six games and nine in his past 10. Only five players in the NHL have more goals than Pageau this season and no one has a better plus-minus. Say what you want about the much-maligned stat, but when you can be plus-19 after 18 games on one of the worst teams in the league, that says something. And here’s something even more remarkable. Of the 41 even-strength and shorthanded goals the Senators have surrendered this season, empty-netters excluded, Pageau has been on the ice for only six of them.

This draft is very deep though, even where the B's will pick you get a very good player, not moving the 1st at all and I think that is Sweeney's plan also.
So the Bruins can draft some more of these sure fire prospects. I don't see any teams knocking down the door to acquire our supposed abundance of talent in the minors.

I don't see any of Travis Konecny, Mathew Barzal or Kyle Connor type of players waiting in the wings.

You messed up in the draft so do what you have to do for another shot at the cup with your aging veterans. Time is running out.

Bump Krejci down to 4th line? I like Pageau but don't see how he fits at all.

I see your point and it is a valid one for sure, but I was just going by what Sweeny had said and that he won't be giving up a first round pick , especially for a rental and that he hated not having a first round pick in the past, unless they have another deal in place maybe where they acquire a first rounder, I don't think Donny is trading that pick. I could see someone like Vaak being dealt if he really had to include him for an upgrade at forward.

2020 cup go big:Moore to Chicago for 3rd and 6th
Heinen Zboril 3rd and 6th for Palmieri
Senyshyn 2nd JFK for Kreider 50% retained
Works for our cap. I would add B- prospect to each deal To make it work

Chicago doesn't have enough cap space to take Moore
and if they did you're lucky to get a 4th round pick.
Only teams looking at Moore will be PO teams like
TB, Wash, STL, Col. Teams that will/should go at
least 2 rounds.

The NJ/NY deals are pipe dreams.

I wonder if Zucker could be had for less than Kreider, if the Rangers won't budge on getting a first and we can get Zucker for less ,than I would go that direction and still go for a #2 RW. While at it add toughness with Clifford and Foligno for the 4th line to replace Nordstrom and Wagner and add Boro for the bottom pair D.

Zucker will not be had less than a 1st & prospect. At all. Guerin isn't that type & one doesn't trade a player like this for 2nd.

I think I would fire Sweeney if he valued a first round pick more than winning this year. I understand it’s a deep draft but I look at draft picks like pulls on a slot machine, you might get Jake DeBrusk, but you might also get Senyshyn or Zboril. (I know the book isn’t closed on those two prospects but would anyone consider them off-limits in a deal for Palmieri?)

The object of the game is to win the cup and having a team that is good enough to compete for first overall is rare. They have to make the most of those opportunities when they come around.

totally agree. now i'm not tossing away a 1st for anyone, but if it's the 2-3 top end guys
that fit, moving the 1st isn't a big deal. you'd prefer the 1st to go for a guy with term, but
we'll see. it's gonna be pick #25 or later anyway. and i don't think this draft is as deep as some
people think. to me it's average.

Would rather keep Coyle in the middle & target a natural winger.

My first choice is Kreider or Palmieri however the idea of strength down the middle appeals to me especially considering injuries. Pageau can score and play PK and PP.

What’s more impressive is Pageau plays on a terrible team and has more goals And better +-

16 g / 15 a / 44 games palmieri
17/15/48 Kreider
19/12/46 Pageau

he might be smaller but he plays big.

Especially since that 1st is almost like a 2nd. The odds are that the 1st will produce as much as the 2nd, especially with Sweeney’s penchant to going off the grid with late 1st rounders.

I agree, but Sweeny did say he was not wanting to trade 1st anymore, he hated not having one couple years ago from the Nash deal, so unless it is part of a deal for a good young player with term, I don't think he moves the first, if GM's insist on a 1st for Kreider or Pageau, DS will just go elsewhere for Toffoli, Kase, Granlund, Smith, Athanasiou, etc. maybe get two guys like that instead.
