His EV production was on par with or higher than all the forwards on PP1 except for Panarin. At that point before the scratch he had more EV points than Trocheck, same EV points as Kreider, only 3 less EV points than Zibanejad. After the scratch what ever little bit of confidence that was left tanked even further and his production disappeared.

What's happening to him is mostly on Gallant. Sure the kid could get "amped up" or whatever but it's psychology, how can someone get psyched up for something they won't be a part of.

Interesting….so, do you think he should be on PP1?

He is too slow.....he needs to be faster . It really is that simple . I say trade him for Chychrun as he is still somewhat of a wildcard ....and maybe he turns out ? Somehow I have my doubts it will happen in NY behind Panarin and Kreider . Laf-conditional first this year or next depending on a Final appearance and maybe Jones .......and it could be a steal for Yotes.....and we could win 2 cups.....roll the dice I figure . Maybe next week I change my mind ! LOL....

We've seen this with all the kids... Chytil was going to break out after '21 seaosn.... Looked lost last season in the regular season. Kakko was a bust last regular season and benched in game6 of the ECF.

Laffy can definitely improve physically, I'm not saying that ( for he has much room to grow in strength, hands and skating )... but a majority of the kids problems, 100% on Laffy right now, is mental.

He will be fine...... eventually.

Hell, they gave us a glimpse of the possibilities in the playoffs last season. Far from giving up on these three.

All the more reason, if true, that the idea of trying to win with Kreider/Zibanejad/Trouba in their primes is misplaced. Kids are not ready.

Lafreniere contributes nothing that a contender needs. Him being on the roster come playoff time is automatically a deficit that is fought off by his linemates

He can easily be replaced by a hungrier AHLer/prospect, whether through the farm or trade or FA.

And third liner? Please, Lafreniere is barely a fourth liner at the going rate. His production is double what he deserves from his level of play. Most of his points are freebies or secondary assists

There were always the "Be a GM EA NHL zero patience" crowd and the "calm down, the kids will be fine" crowd.

Laffy almost certainly will not live up to his draft position, but he will also develope.

Chytil is progressing well, we don't know what we have in Kravtsov yet, and I still have faith that Kakko can be the contributor we drafted him to be.

I'm done with Lafreniere. Even when he gets opportunities, he does absolutely nothing with them. Kid's a bust.

He had a two on one, but he is so slow that the backchecker caught up. Then he forced the pass which was intercepted and resulted in the goal the other way.
