big thing about laf that would help him at least generate more chances offensively is getting/keeping his feet moving when he has the puck. biggest thing is he needs to attack with the puck when he's carrying it into the zone. old coach would say he expected to see your name and number carrying the puck into the zone. in other words be on your toes and attacking and handling the puck away from your body. laf needs to set his mind to being aggressive...stop gliding and getting angled way outside

This is how he played in juniors. Lightening quick and couldn't be touched because he was very aggressive, always moving and finding the open ice.

Holy moly. Haha. Even if you don't grow/mature you can get stronger and gain more stamina. He hasn't. Occam's Razor says he needs to work harder at it, or maybe smarter at it. I'm not sure why this is so insulting to you. As you said he's 21, people grow at different rates. That isn't just physical. To suggest he's still learning what he needs to do OFF ice as well as ON it as an NHL pro at 21 coming straight out of Juniors is not some wild accusation. its a logical conclusion and the most likely explanation for what I am seeing. I really don't care if you don't like it. You don't have to agree. Hahaha. I'm not asking you to.
If you read my posts, I'm consistently preaching patience with Laffy. I like the kid, I like his game, or what it will become. I think he's going to be an excellent Ranger.
There's no more for me to say about this here. If you want to tell me what my eyes and logic tell me is wrong one more time, go for it. It's all good buddy. Have a great day!
Just because you believe it to be tue doesn't make it so.

Laf needs a thing or a meme. It's part of doing the development. Kakko has big beef/fat Kakko/gf. Chytil has his talking at but not talking to Emily Kaplan. Laf is missing some thing.

And vice versa, my friend. Also doesn’t mean it is not so.
Already said this several times… It’s my opinion based on observation. Do you think your opinion majickly has more validity because it’s YOURS? You haven’t given any factual evidence I’m wrong. Until then I’ll go with what I’ve observed and the logical conclusions derived from it. You do you.

Laf 0 goals, 1 assist, and a -4 in his last 5. Put one wide tonight where I would've like to see some hands maybe, but he put 3 shots on the net tonight and I guess that's a plus.

Maybe I took your post without context. To be fair I do think that the PP should be more evenly distributed. I wouldn’t break up the first unit as much as I would let PP2 start some powerplays. I’ve also advocated for Trouba to be taken off and let fox play the entire 2 minutes
It must hurt to be so wrong after last nights powerplay production basically made the difference in a key game vs one of the best teams in the NHL. Ok one of those was from the second unit but you guys actively rooting for Laf to be on the powerplay are not interested in seeing this team win- you are only obsessed with developing players seemingly for no purpose because it’s not about winning games for you all- it’s about development.

It's his ridiculous looking goatee.

He needs to go back to being clean shaven.

All time best troll attempt.

Developing players is how you win. Not sure how you keep missing that fact. We want to win more than you do, very obviously.

Lafrenière is more noticeable the last 2 games, but he still has to do more. He needs to play like Kakko. It's unreal how they were, until a few weeks ago, polar opposites.

Kakko for most of the season was playing noticeable hockey but didn't get any points, Lafrenière is mostly invisible but gets a lot of assists somehow.

At the risk of sounding like the guy who said Zibanejad should work on his game back in 2016  I will say this; I am tired of all the goofy shit Laf does. The silly dances in the tunnel, the funny faces on the bench. Play some decent hockey first and then act like a goofball.

To be fair the reason Panarin took a lazy penalty late was he was too tired to still be on the ice, maybe not playing pp1 the whole pp is a plus for more than one reason. Few games back he made a blind backhand pass for a breakaway late in a pp. Mental mistakes are more common when players are tired.

So I guess nobody even sees a problem with the fact pp2 gets hardly any game reps? Like what happens God forbid we get to the finals and Zib and Panarin are hurt, are we just hoping guys who have been used sparingly on the pp in game situations to just jump in and take over?

Sure and I agree with this completely but for the past 2 days we had to read post after post on this thread about how the powerplay should be broken up so Laf could develop. If the argument was- playing 5 players the entire time and then them being useless for the next few shifts was the argument I was reading of course that's a different situation entirely!

Literally everyone except like the same three administration defending posters see a problem with the kids getting no PP time.

That being said, if you took the development needed by the kids out of the equation, I see the argument for why you don't need to consistently deploy a second power play. The skaters for the first power play are capable of soaking up 80% of the time.

If Zib and Panarin are hurt we aren't getting to the Finals.

I'd like to see some opportunities for other players if the pp is stale but I'd actually be happy if they used pp2 more and took Trouba off it.

They can't get hurt in the finals?

offer sheets.... interesting....

i wasn't aware of this. i thought the real test to see if he was real keeping or not was to begin next season but it's been this season all along. so would it be safe to think that what he does for the rest of the season will determine if he remains with us or not?

let's assume that he finished with say 38 pts total for the season.

chances are there just might be a team somewhere that might tend 2-3 years at say 3.4 million. so whatcha going to do?

I'm more worried about offer sheets or him wanting out of here really.
Kakko didn't sign an offer sheet. I seriously doubt Laf does either. If he wants out at some point, that's his decision, but I don't get that vibe with him. He seems like a good kid who wants to work hard and get better. The opportunity for him to succeed is there. He just has to take it.
