The most exciting Laf has been was the first game and he was flying and looking like the #1 overall pick. Since then he has been very blah. Kakko has looked blah since he came into the league. It is very much a concern. Neither look like they can become gamechangers like Panarin.

Kakko has looked better this season so far.

This is so dumb and inaccurate.

Lafs best games have come recently,You can't compare 1snt and 2nd year pros to someone who came over when he was 24.

And in Lafs case, ITS BEEN TEN f***ING GAMES! He's been saddled with Struggle bus Strome, Struggle Bus Zibanejad and Howden at ES and doesn't get prime PP minutes (barely any PP minutes at all) and has suffered from some horrendous puck luck.

He hasn't been great, but this type of garbage is exhausting to read and really has no place here. Take a lap.

I simply will not believe that Quinn isn’t in these guys’ heads. And for that matter Kravtsov and Andersson too. Not that Andersson maybe wouldn’t have sucked anyway, but there’s too much smoke for these high picks struggling to contribute when it’s happening elsewhere in the league. Too many times in a row here for it to be coincidence.

I guarantee he’s telling them to play safe, make smart plays, not take risks, something that is keeping them from opening up the arsenal.
Anyone should examine any position they have where they absolutely will not believe they’re wrong.

We literally don’t have to wonder about Lias, he’s on another team and not very good. It’s not a Quinn issue.

Jack Hughes had 5 points in first 10 games
Kakko had 3 points in the first 10 games
Laf has 1 point in 10

Stamkos had 4 points in his first 10 games and the coach was fired for lack of Stamkos icetime and production

Something clearly is not right with our coaching staff.

Does anyone have some analytics to compare Laf this season to Kakko’s rookie season?

Scouching told me he’s working on a Lafreniere video, and that Laf is doing a lot of things right and looks good.

Yup...seems like in Ottawa they are letting the kids go play . These guys are racehorses....they need to play a lot . It has to be a huge adjustment for a guy like Laf playing a lot less minutes a night these games . One thing for sure right now....Zibs is not getting it done on the PP....I stick Laf out there on it for a few chances....it can't hurt nothing .

Probably not the best because Laf is being weighed down back a lack of goals but that is unsustainable; he’s been getting chances. Please share that video when it’s ready.

People might find the “market value” ridiculous but FWIW Panarin’s 2019-20 was $10,644,200.

Kakko had the worst season since analytics are being recorded.
Is this hyperbole or are you serious? He was THAT bad?

And how does Lafreniere compare to Stutzle? I know how to look up the stats, but I would rather go to the expert for analysis of the analytics.

You act like Lafreniere isn't even playing well
He’s had a couple of decent games but he’s had more games where he’s completely anonymous. It’s not like he’s creating a ton and not just not getting the bounces. In game 2 set up Fox in the slot and I can’t recall any other instances of great chances created

I mean Stutzle has played more hockey then Laf the last 12 months. Maybe we shoulda sent him to the Wjc
Yeah. Stützle definitely looks like a rookie out there but he’s still flashing his elite ability here and there. Laf hasn’t flashed anything, the fact that he might be playing sound positional hockey doesn’t do it for me. He’s a #1 pick.

I do somewhat agree with this sentiment as you can see from the name lmao, I think the lack of opportunities as well as a focus on playing safe hockey has had an negative effect on Kakko and Laf’s initial development. At the same time however it has only been 10 games and Kakko has looked much better this season so we shall see.

He was that bad. Better this year.

Lafreniere has been much better than Stützle, actually.

Offense is about the same but Stützle has been a nuke defensively. He's managed to go -7 despite having 6 points in 9 games. He's also shooting 30%.
