Yeah, I'm not a leader or even a part of the crusade against him, I just saw someone mention "in 15 games." If he hadn't scored in 15 games, it'd be bad... agreed?
It hasn't been 15 games. And yet again, the belief that a 19 year old rookie would not be affected by not playing hockey in 10 months, having a two week camp and no exhibition games is pretty silly.

A lot of people are echoing my thoughts: I want to be all "Where are the goals, son?", but this whole year has been such a disaster, that the least of my concerns are a brilliant young player taking a little bit of time to come around. It's not like he's making glaring errors out there. He's in the mix. It'll come.

I think the measuring stick is whether he is getting chances and whether he looks like he belongs out there.

So far, both of those seem fine.

If he and Kakko aren't sniffing around for chances, or catching my attention, that's probably more concerning than if they have 3 goals each but look invisible for 95% of the game.

When he yoked up and ragdolled joseph last night, it was beautiful.

kid is so feisty, you definitely see him get real physical out there.

Going to be a real beast

I was watching on MSG+ and they refused to show the dust up, only Sam and Joe mentioned it was happening off screen

Kid had so much hype going into the season that I feel a little let down by the lack of offensive impact. Sure, I think his slow start is due to no pre-season, covid, no fans etc. I do feel he's going to be a solid Ranger for a long time and we're blessed to have him. However 1pt in 9gp even with limited ice time is no where near where I would've put him based on everyone's opinions of him before making his NHL leap. Is this DQ's fault?

I hope he can get to that .5ppg avg by seasons end. Even that would be a disappointment to some, especially with our roster being much better than some of the guys listed below coming into the league. I guess I was just assuming he would carry a lot of the offense on his own. Seems like he's had a lot of good looks and he's playing well. It's just a very different outcome from what everyone was yapping about regarding immediate offensive production and how he's the best 1OA prospect in a long while. A Mackinnon/Mathews mold.

I was just hoping he'd have an instant offensive impact. Maybe I'm just way to bored at work.

Hughes 21pts/61gp
Dahlin 44pts/82gp
Hischier 52pts/82gp
Mathews 69pts/82gp
McDavid 48pts/41gp
Ekblad 39pts/81gp
MacKinnon 63pts/82gp
Yakupov 31pts/48gp
Nugent-Hopkins 52pts/62gp
Hall 42pts/65gp

Is this DQ's fault?

DQ just has no trust in young forwards. First Lias/Chytil, then Kakko, now Laf. I refuse to believe these guys (Kakko and Laf) are below average top picks.

I think Laf, if we was drafted by Detroit he'd be putting up better numbers. People said joining a Rangers team that already had good players ahead of him would be good for him, and maybe in the long run it will be but those players you listed joined teams that were desolate and had no talent so they relied on their #1 picks for offense. Laf is not on the PP, he's not getting many minutes overall.

Great to see Laf getting the Kakko treatment now. Quinn on the verge of ruining two top 2 picks in the draft is pretty astonishing.

Yea their combined 3 goals is a great thing to see.
They are 19 years old. One was an 18 year old rookie last year. One is a 19 year old rookie this year. Said 19 year old rookie did not play hockey in 10 months, endured all of a two week camp and had zero exhibition games.

They have both been noticeable. If not for the poor play of the veterans for the first 7 or so games, they would have each had more points and more goals. As the vets play more to form, this will open up the ice more for the kids.

Claiming that a pair of 19 year olds are ruined 9 games into a season seems a tad hyperbolic.

Not ruined yet but they will be if this nonsense keeps up. This is the second year in a row this has happened now and as a wise philosopher once said fool me once shame on you, fool me can't get fooled again. Laf was widely considered the best prospect in years and Kakko before him was considered at least on par with the guy who currently has 4 times more points then he does. Luckily before yesterday Laf hadn't been facing this as much but wouldn't be surprised to see more sub 10 minuet games of ice-time throughout the rest of the season.
