If you think all of last season was an issue I suggest you watch the last 15-20 games again.

I'm not suggesting "all" of last season was an issue, but the fact is he still doesn't look like he's ready to burst onto the scene. Just like with Kakko we were supposed to be getting a ready made star and now that doesn't appear to be the case.

Things are looking up for Kakko but it's also not like he's arrived with a 70 point season either.

Every player is different. There isn't always a straight and clear path. Guys can have medicore seasons, then good seasons, then bad again before really hitting. Look at McKinnon, he had back to back 50 point mediocre seasons in his 3rd and 4th years in the league. People were talking about him being a bust. Now he is legit one of the top players in the world at any given time. It's tough to not know where Kakko and Laffy top out, but just know it takes time, and it's not unusual or weird or wrong. It's just the way it is.

He put a backhand in an open net and fell down after. I haven’t seen any of that flash like a Pettersson, Stutzle, Hughes, or Kravtsov would bring. I think he’s playing a boring style and is scared to take risks

Lol wtf.

Thats an incredibly tough play to backhand and roof the puck with your hands in that tight to your body.

Stutzle didn't show a ton of flash either. Half of his points were literally him breathing on the puck last year.

How about this play

No skill my ass.

As far as I can tell, he’s still the best hockey player in his draft class. Who has passed him?

Being the best in his class isn't much of a concern to me. Maybe they all suck.

The problem is our rebuild counts on him being one of the best in the league.

You could find Blackwell doing the same things. If someone didn’t know they would have guessed Blackwell was the high draft pick and Kakko & Laf were veteran bottom 6 guys last year. I have a lot more flash than Laf obviously I play a lower level than him but I score lacrosse goals and so between the legs dekes and toros, all sorts of crazy shit! If we ever do a HFNYR meetup game you will see I garauntee I will be the best player there, or at least the flashiest. There is video of me playing on here I am good and I have a better one timer than Kakko or Laf compared to my competition. I know my stuff and don’t even eat eggs

Lol dude we have a former division 1 hockey player on here who was drafted by an NHL team.

Also if we have a HFNYR meet up I am going to bury you for saying this lolol.

Jovo, I finally understand why you so intensely relate to Kravstov. I say the Rangers should call both of you up for tonights game!

When was this in the 80’s? He is old man now. I was linemates on championship team with a guy who dominated Cale Makar in RBC cup. I played with multiple NHLers… if the meetup is ball hockey instead of ice hockey as most people probably can’t even skate (no offense to them lol) just know I was the leading scorer on TEAM BC. And I play on teams with many guys who play for Team Canada in world championships.

but there are NHLers who have no flash, it is a specified skill. I work a lot on puck tricks and I can do crazy stuff. This is why I appreciate Kravtsov you can tell he practises it he sees hockey as an art, he cares about the aesthetics of hockey. Laf and Kakko have substance but no pizzazz. Kravtsov has the hair, the toros, the between the legs deke coming down the wing. You can tell he tries to put on a show!

but I look forward to you trying to bury me :) we need to do this one day

Hahaha. All I see is people who are bitter over Kravtsov trying to run down Laf and Kako in an effort to elevate Karvtsov.
Find an NHL exec who would trade KK or Laf for Kravtsov. I’ll wait. I mean have any of you gone that far off the reservation that you’d make that trade? Haha.
Im bitter over Kravtsov as well. As in they certainly seemed to crap the bed on evaluating his character.

Literally had the same conversation about Kakko.

He will be fine. I get that it would be freaking great if a #1 pick would actually come here and light shit up off the bat like a Matthews or McDavid, but this is the Rangers we are talking about.

We just aren't that lucky. Ill be happy we drafted him. Would rather have him on my team than any of the other teams that had a lotto ball bouncing around in that tank.

I still expect him to break out this season, we saw it in the last 20 games last season. On that pace hes getting 50-60 points

Josef Balej also had pizzazz. Shouldn’t the primary concern be production?

My one issue with Laf is something similar with Kakko. Want him to shoot more
It’s because they don’t have the swagger like Kravtsov, Kravtsov thinks he’s the best wether you agree or not! Laf and Kakko get nervous. They don’t think they’re the best. If you ask Kravtsov he thinks he’s the best player in the league: Kakko finally is holding onto the puck more and feeling confident in his 3rd year

From the safety of my own couch, and as an anonymous person, I can tell you that I'm a much better hockey player than any pro.

I just don't play in the NHL because I prefer posting on message boards. Nothing suspect about that. Not a thing.

Kravtsov is holding his balls more at home in year 4. I see the similarities

Same, well I’m not better all around. But I have much more flash than Lafreniere or Kakko. I would beat them in a skills competition AINEC

Guy is in his second season in show and people are calling him bust and being concerned.

This board really has some quick hot takes. Just because he was picked first does not mean he is going to produce. People are spoiled because of Matthews, McDavid etc.
