I was at the draft where he was selected (2016). The two Buffalo fans in front of me lost their marbles when Buffalo picked Nylander. They were furious. They wanted Chychrun. I actually told them not to worry because they selected a good player at 8.

It's been two games... That's far too short a sample to really make any conclusions, as far as what he can contribute to the Leafs. He's a guy, who at best we can hope for third line time on the ice, and third line offensive contributions. He's played most of his time with two prospects, who don't appear ready to contribute at the NHL level offensively yet.

What would we hope for? Mid 30 points... so a point every three games or so... and he's played two.

Now, his on ice expected goals for, is 84.9%... so the ice has been pretty slanted for us, when he's played... that's good. Zero hits though... playing for a job my guy, you aren't small... show something.

Now I'm on record saying, he really isn't a good enough player to worry about, and that I doubt he sticks.... but, he's getting a chance, and needs more than two games before we draw any conclusions on him. He'll require waivers to get sent down, so it's probably Grebenkin and Minten gets sent down, if Knies and Matthews are ready next game... unless of course McMann is out too..

Yeah he needs a longer look. When we first got him the narrative was wow he could have got an NHL deal somewhere, there was surprise we got him for the Marlies.

Cause he’s Willy’s brother he’ll get 10 games but it’s defiantly not based on merit

He will not lay many hits. But he will probably have more points then Robertsson if he gets 19games and Robs icetime. Most games if the 3rd 4th line dont let goals in , its a win. So far he has been good enough. If he had -5 and generated nothing i would understand the venom, but he generates something and let in nothing in his limited minutes.

Put any of the top player on this third line with 10 min a game , you(not you^) would be amazed in how little they would seem to create. Better then A Nylander, but not near good enough for a top player.

Pretty underwhelming so far. Waivers will play a role, but I'd keep a few others over him when we get healthy, at this point .
