NHL player factory
Ehhhh I guess we're down to this due to injuries. But once we're healthy, not sure he will play over just about anyone. He sucks defensively and our top 9 is pretty full. I'm not a fan of his game.

Maybe this is pre-cursor to a trade in a week or two if he does well.
Robertson is as good as gone. Nylander takes his spot. The Leafs will not put Nylander on waivers again ashe will get claimed

The Leafs of course always had "this card" to play.

The interesting challenge now is -- you likely can't stash him back in the AHL if the team starts to get healthy. He apparently had NHL offers this summer. There's enough teams with injuries out there, that would likely put a waiver claim in.

So, while he was "the last to be called up", he'll likely be the last to be sent down, given that Minten & Grebenkin are waiver-exempt, while Steeves can be waiver exempt as long as they get him back down sooner than later.

He is not.

But if they send down Minten+Grebs and Waive Reaves - who no one will pick up.... you keep everyone.

At least until Jarnkrok, Patches, or Kampf come back.
After that, the the music stops and we see who doesn't have a chair.

Still remembered how some here said Alex will be the better Nylander during Alex’s draft year.
Good times

More like Sedins, except they are not twins, lol

Burke started that BS trend and rumor that some data shows younger siblings are better players than older siblings. I remember him saying that in an interview. I think it was leafs wanted to draft Brayden Schenn

There has been very few cases where younger siblings is the better player in recent history

Schenn case being one of them

121 NHL games, 25G/24A, 12.6 shooting %.

He had a decent year with Buff in 18/19, another with Chicago in 19/20, and then really nothing until last year with the Blue Jackets where he popped for 15 points in 23 games.

What's holding this kid back? Brain dead?

Pretty lazy, doesn't defend well, doesn't forecheck, doesn't win many board battles

But otherwise a great player

Buff was totalt wrong team to start in , injuries ,injuries, sick, a player that needs a lot of minutes. First time healty big minutes with Blue jackets. Not a top top player, but not crap, could find chemestry with his brother and shine. Not big odds tho.

But I hope he turns it around, and that he get a better chance at it then his brother got as center.

So does Alex have to clear waivers now if we try and send him back down?

Yes which is another reason why I believe Alex signed here. If he plays well, he’ll get claimed possibly. But teams might be hesitant to claim him because he’s not on a two way deal and teams don’t want to be paying him NHL salary if they have to send him down. I’m hoping he plays good enough to stay up. Waive Reaves

I'd love to see him put it together. Aside from it being in Toronto, he is a much lower pressure environment to succeed at a personal level - he played on some pretty bad teams previously. Maybe some age, experience, humility, and opportunity, he'll turn into a serviceable player for the season and beyond. Wouldn't be the first time that a former high-end pick needed a few changes in scenery before things started to click (Anthony Duclair, Dylan Strome, etc.)

How’s Willy going to react when his bro gets waived or sent down? Is he going to shrug and keep going, or is this going to be a problem?

I bet problem, but hey, hopefully I’m wrong.
All right, Mr Demille, I’m ready for my close-up.

I suspect we may see the complete Marlie line of Nylander-Minten-Grebs tomorrow as the 3rd line.

I told you guys a week a go that our 3rd line was playing in the AHL and people thought I was joking.😁
