Would Detroit trade Alex Lyon if they could get back a decent return in value to further bolster their roster for a playoff run.

What position would Detroit need in return?

Lyon is coming off a breakout campaign in which he played a pivotal role in helping the Panthers reach the playoffs last season.

Alex is currently sporting a .947 save percentage in a 5 games this season and has seemed to continue his outstanding performance in net from last spring, on a 900k cap hit x 2 seasons.

Would a team looking to get back into the playoff picture be interested in giving up roster players to acquire some stability between the pipes.

Truth be told, they're leaning on him lately.

Doesn't make sense for them to move him unless they get a turn-around with Husso.

Riemer is the one that could be gotten cheaply and be effective, but with Husso struggling it's really good depth right now for the Red Wings and if playoffs started today, I think most Red Wing fans currently would have more faith in a Lyon/Riemer tandem than anything with Husso involved. Though less starts both other goalies seem to be legitimately out playing Husso at the moment.

He might be Detroit’s #1 goalie at this point. I doubt they move him now. Husso’s almost a calendar year at leas than .890 now. He’s not horrible but he’s not giving them saves when they need them. Lyon has been. Including tonight. It just snowballed playing with 9 forwards and your top 2 Cs out. He even made some big saves tonight. Husso plays a good game, then gives them 3 bland efforts.

I’m guessing Lyon isn’t going anywhere at this point. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Detroit isn’t a team that suddenly ends up with a Gibson, and Verbeek takes Husso in that deal. Yzerman has a history of randomly upgrading in net too. Remember the Bishop deal? He has to be pleased with Lyon and Reimer but Husso hasn’t been good. At all. You put Gibson on that team, they’re much better.
