Toronto Maple Leafs Alex Bishop Petr Mrazek amateur tryout contract - TSN.ca

The Toronto Maple Leafs are signing University of Toronto goaltender Alex Bishop to a one-day amateur tryout contract and he will serve as the backup on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.
Goaltender Petr Mrazek exited Thursday’s game against the Senators with a groin injury after playing two periods.
According to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston, the Maple Leafs do not have the cap space to call up a goaltender to replace Mrazek

Ya, not the way I envisioned to start the season with a pretend goalie as back up and predictably some are claiming this is Dubas being smart.
It blows the mind.
If we were winning and had some success in the bank maybe you could say it was making the best of a serious cap situation but we all know that’s not what has happened

I know it's only university but he seems ok, and since Leafs are cursed with injuries at Goalie they should keep him in an Uber circling the ACC ;)

hahaha omg.

Sure helps our #1G is a notorious bandaid himself

Can we just look at this as a feel good story instead of Dubas sucks bc he screws up our cap….
Pretty sure even if AM, Willie, MM and JT all signs for 8mil less, Dubas will still use Bishop as the goalie.

Keef said something about Holl having cold symptoms and not having the results of a PCR test yet. So we would need Sandin and Liljegren in case he can’t go.
Great, imagine if he infects others on his way out too with whatever it is he may have. Buddy's contribution on & off the ice o_O

This guy could have been an ECHL/AHL/Semi-pro goalie if he didn't go to college.... (and lots are after college...)

You guys make it sound like it's David Ayres...

It's just a weird regular player signing.
