Series Talk: AHL Pacific Division Semis: (6) SJ vs. (1) COL (COL wins 3-1, season over)

My expectation is that Bordeleau holds out for a one-way contract from some NHL franchise, can't find one, and signs with another AHL team. Guy is a the "needs a fresh start" stage of his career.

This sounds right to me.

I've been hoping to hear news about contract renewals for just about anyone on this team with expiring contracts. There's a lot of guys I want to see back with the club. But with the exception of fringe guys like Coe, Berglund, etc, Bordeleau might be the guy I'd be most surprised to see a renewal announcement for.

You're talking about for the Barracuda? I'm absolutely fine bringing him back, but he's not really a necessity at center. We've still got Poturalski and Bystedt down the middle, and potentially one of Ostapchuk/Giles. Could he be useful playing wing? Yep, definitely.

And, I've said many times, I don't think that Grier likes Bordeleau as a player, and I think Bordeleau would be justified in looking elsewhere.
With the rumor that Poturalski might be going to the KHL, I was thinking we might need another center. My preference would be to bring Poturalski back to be 1C if he's willing.

I'd also like to find a veteran center to center the second line as our young wings are going to need a good center to help them develop. I'm not real high on Bystedt.

We'll have to see what happens with that rumor, Poturalski seemed like he just blew it off when he was asked about it. Thing is, though, even if he were to leave, you can always just sign another top six AHL center, a la Agozzino, Carpenter and so on. I don't think that would really change anything re: Bordeleau.

Eagles missing one of their top defensemen (not sure why she quoted the starters from last game).

Not sure if anyone on our side is going to be tweeting lines- do we even have anyone who went out to Colorado to cover this game?

Musty, Vanroboys out; Houle and Cardwell back in. Ostapchuk going to line 4.

No changes to the defense, but we're already icing the six best guys we've got available IMO.

I'll just see if I can piece together the lines as we go.

Duehr-White-Graf
Regenda-Bystedt-Gushchin
Houle-Giles-Cardwell
Vincent-Ostapchuk-Sabourin

Schuldt-Carlsson
Cagnoni-Frisch
Hache-Thompson

2-0 Colorado, Megna cleans up a shot that just trickled behind Askarov.

End of the first period. Awful stuff. Colorado's killing us in the transition, we keep losing containment on their forwards, plus a weak goal near the end there.

I thought I saw Colin White come right back out after his collision with Graf, but I must've mistaken Bystedt for him or something, because he didn't return after that. If he's now out of the lineup, yeah this is not looking great. Drew called it "knee on knee" but watching it back, that looked like knee on head.

Halfway through the third period and between being pinned in their own zone for long stretches and Colorado blocking what few shots we've taken, the Barracuda have only managed one shot on goal in the period.
